"Compliance" managers speaking rubbish

Do the wheel nuts on the near side still tighten in an anti-clockwise direction or are they all ‘lefty loosey’ and ‘righty tighty’ ?

Haven’t seen LH thread wheelbolts for years on wagons, though i wouldn’t like to say about agricultural or industrial off road machines on huge wheels.

OK, thanks Juddian, i remember them like that when i left in 1974.

Having lots of overspeeds doesn’t look great if they give you a tug, nothing illegal as you say but it might be that one little thing that the grumpy DVSA man needs to ruin your day. No such thing as doing right by the rules now, its all down to who’s tugging you and how he interprets them unfortunately.

It’s written down in their book!

Overspeed for 10 or more minutes by 10km/h or more, as that indicates a limit issue so would need further investigation

That’s a bit of a daft comment isn’t it?

The limit in mph is 60mph the overspeed limit kicks in at 57mph so a 10km/h overspeed would therefore be over the 60mph limit at 62 mph (100kph) - doh!

All left hand thread ended when the ‘conical’ nuts were replaced with current type with built in washer I think.

The little Isuzi builders motors and the like are lefty on the nearside, weird size as well small thread and 41mm socket needed for the nuts.

I think Hinos are also leftys on the nearside.

The point I was making, maybe lost on you, was that at 10km/h over the overspeed … you’d be speeding anyway - doh!

And the point that’s lost on you! Is this isn’t about speeding, it’s about a defective speed limiter - doh!

stevieboy308:

Well if it’s about a defective speed limiter funny then that the error message is overspeed not defective speed limiter warning.

Muckaway:
So what’s the difference between a TM and a Compliance Manager? Surely they should be the same thing?

That’s easy.

A Transport Manager is a proper bona fide job in road haulage aka…a necessity. :bulb:

A Compliance Manager is a created non job in a modern management style context aka…a disingenuous pile of bull sht.
Hope that explains. :sunglasses:

An overspeed will show up a defective speed limiter if you read what it says, basically if you are overspeeding for a prolonged period then it is the limiter that is at fault rather than you going flat to the mat down the side of Ben Nevis

Sounds right. Not many slopes ten miles long!
It won’t flag up a wrongly calibrated speedo though.

Only way you’ll caught for that at a roadside check is if they are sitting behind you and you don’t notice as happened to one of ours, 95km/h on the Lille ring with an unmarked car behind him expensive lesson learnt there. :open_mouth:

Hmmmm. I am a Compliance Manager these days, hopefully on my way to TM. And I was a driver for 32 years. And I ain’t forgot that.

Our ‘‘Compliance manager’’ has a car licence only, but seems to know all about driving heavy trucks, and how they should be driven.
No beef with you mate but in your 32 yrs and my similar amount of time, how tf did we all survive without…‘‘Compliance managers’’ …even the title sounds ■■■■ pretentious.

Well we survived ably of course…However my eyes have been seriously opened in the last year. You wouldn’t believe some of the crap we have to provide for the Ministry. And we have to collect it all and keep it even though they are almost never likely to see it unless we are inspected for some reason. Its extra work for drivers, extra work for me and all almost certainly useless.

Until the day someone gets killed, and then we will want every i dotted and t crossed, sign of the snowflake times I’m afraid…

LOL and its called Compliance because thats what the Ministry calls it. We have to ‘comply’ with a zillion petty rules and regulations half of which I’m bloody sure are made up :imp:

This question was on the bus drivers test here in the states. At what pressure does windscreen washer fluid hit the windscreen ?

I sh*t you not :open_mouth:

This was on a new test they tried out this year but now they scrapped it and gone back to old one.

It just gets worse for you doesn’t it!

Because going down hill faster than the limited speed is not a defective speed limiter, you’re overspending the limiter and if that’s for 10 mins and 10km/h over, then chances are it’s not a hill so will indicate further investigation that the limiter is not defective.

Doh!
