It’s no secret for anyone browsing jobsites and selfsatisf… themselves while having trucknetuk open on their screen that winner for the last - 2018 competition for the worst - nonexistand - lowest of the lowest recruitment standard was… The Jack (Jack Richards)… however it’s new year so new contest should be opened for the crown of number 19…

However… the jury is considering to end - close 2019 competition early due to the new Jack Richards recruitment campaign which have completely annihilated the competition and it is extremely likely that Mick George will be able to fight back and win this [Removed]…

Class 1 Driver Tramping 5/6 Shift

Fakenham - Contract - £41,000 a year

We are looking for contract general haulage drivers (curtainsiders) for 2019 at our Fakenham depot.

HGV Class 1 Drivers required for our Norfolk depot - just over 100 miles from London.

We require drivers who are flexible, prepared to work hard and basic English communication will be needed.
You need to hold a Full HGV C+E Class One licence (minimum of one year artic experience,) along with a valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC).
No CPC training must be required until after September, 2019.
Please note to work for Jack Richards & Son you will need a UK driving licence.

Due to continued company growth and established in 1956, we have continually expanded with a fleet of 330 vehicles. We have depots across the UK. Many of our drivers have been with Jack Richards & Son for 20 years plus.

Shifts Available:
Monday-Sunday 5/6 days per week tramping. Between 4-5 nights out each week.
We are very flexibility for those drivers wanting to work in the UK but who want to commute. (Example: 3 weeks on and 1 week off.)

Immediate start available.
Salary: £39,000 to £41,000 per year depending on hours worked.
High standard accommodation also provided at NO ADDITIONAL COST - £0.00.

(For 10 nights per 4 week for drivers rest days.)

Accommodation offering:

• Large dormitory style rooms, (3-4 drivers only per room,) with TV and free tea & coffee,

• Shared kitchen,

• washing machines,

• showers,
  - Bar,

• 5 minute walk to town centre,

• Free transport to and from work,
  - Airport transfer for new recruits.

As part of our driving workforce you will:
Receive continuous training in other areas as required,
Be supplied with company uniform and safety equipment,
Paid weekly for all hours, (£10.00- £11.75 per hour plus nights out, plus bonus,)
Drive a DAF, (our average fleet age is 18 months,)
Driver Polish, Romanian & English welfare office to assist you with help whist working for Jack Richards,
We will provide additional training and support ongoing,
Mobile truck phone,
Organised UK bank account,
Inland revenue support, (National Insurance application,)

F’ing heck , the only thing I share my bed room with is spiders and my truck may get used on night trunk if they’re very short on trucks other wise I drive and sleep in it 5 days a week
yes I’m paid £10 hour up to 48 GRT but my OT is 11/2 week days and Saturdays , double bubble sundays and bankholidays

I guess the equivalent accommodation idea would be that of a old submarine where there’s more crew than beds, so as soon as someone gets out of the warm bed to start the day, someone ending the shift gets in it, hence the term “hot bed”

I remember the transport cafe in Perth. 10/- for B&B and parking, but the bed was a narrow cot in an old army barracks with 19 other guys. You don’t undress and you put the legs of the bed in your boots so no one nicks them in the night. There were drivers coming in and leaving all the time so not too much sleep anyway.

There was another one by the old bridge in Gloucester.

I doubt the cost of the accomodation and collection from the airport comes to that much but surely there must be a point where putting 50p/£1 on the hourly rate wouldn’t cost that much more?

Then they wouldn’t be so desperate and would get a few more applications

What’s so wrong with that? Company are taking on an 18 year old, investing in all the training, paying him (or her) about £280 per week before stoppages. It doesn’t sound a lot admittedly but we’re talking an apprenticeship here FFS. Get your training, get your licence, set up with a far better job than flipping burgers. Pity there’s not more companies doing the same.

Or would you prefer that they just employed more flip-flops and left our kids on the dole queue?
