If the loads don’t warrant running off. and you can get there and back with tommorows load on, then it’s home time and company is saving money. If I can get home then I will, rather be in my own bed, and use my own toilet.
Wife gets upset when I go for a dump in a Tesco bag tho…
Yes they can be so unreasonable, the fairer ■■■ can’t they just?.‘‘I keep this amber coloured, 5 litre water bottle, bedside to avoid losing duvet heat dearest’’
Never fails to provoke female chagrin iv’e found.
Do you drive for AFS? Just from the pic on your name. If so I’ve done agency with them. Was not impressed at all.
If you do then bin them off and get work for a decent firm mate. Containers are pretty easy work and nights out if you want. Head down to Eiling Wharf and pop into one of the many firms there.

They don’t appreciate, you trying to make less work for them, "
Not sure what your getting at,as long as your putting the the same hours in with no loss of pay, whats the problem.
Are you one of those guys who includes his night out money to subsidies his wages.
Iv had this argument many times with driver that nights out are not guaranteed and should not be included in pay.
I remember once loading for back to the yard with another driver we was about 2 hour from yard,he got loaded and parked up for night I ran back and got 2-3 hours pay that beat his night out money anyway.
Over the years Iv seen many drivers have a tantrum when having to go home during the week.
Thing I’d nights out are part of the job but why some guys hate going home so much is beyond me,
I used to live a few streets away from a lad at my old job,I went home at 6pm and he was already parked up in the yard, when I came in at6am he was still parked up we lived 10 minutes away,I’d been home had a decent meal a nice bath, banged the wife and back in to work while he had sat there in his cab all for £20,unbelievable

We’ve got guys who HAVE TO NIGHT OUT AT ALL COSTS!
I really don’t give 2 hoots as I won’t run with a load when it’s only the Home Counties I’m going to

My shift pattern includes quite a few weekends and we are pretty much 9/10 going to be out Friday and Sunday nights if its on our rota. Saturday is the exception a lot of the time , which I don’t mind, as its nice to go home on the weekend nights. To be honest, if they offered me 1 less night out per week (for example being home on my middle shift) it would suit me perfectly.
I think the issue which a lot of drivers have with losing nights out (me included) is that you have brought your stuff in to do 4/5 nights out. Also, like with a lot of things in this job, it is weighted in the companies favour in most cases. They want drivers doing nights out as required, but be able to stand them down as needed. I would have no problem moving to a couple of nights out per week, but I would want to know with some reasonable notice (it’s generally 4-5pm when you find out you’re not nighting out, imagine shoe on the other foot and you dropped the bombshell at 5pm that you weren’t prepared to night out!)
Other week my first couple of jobs were local, I asked dif I would need to bring night out stuff (I. E. For running out with something later) and was asked to bring it ‘just in case’. I didn’t end up nighting out, but of course you can’t plan anything as you’re unsure for most of the day.
Where I work is similar. Work seems to have dropped off since Xmas
Wasn’t like this last year
Couple drivers are complaing not getting the nights out anymore or the hours.
Personally I prefer the less hours being home.
As we get paid 9 hrs a day anyway even if only do 8 after 9 is time and half.
A lot of the time nights out are not cost effective, especially if you get a couple of tanks of fuel stolen, my last job paid a night out whether you were at home or not, so there was no need to fiddle them. The main thing was to be where you should be in the morning, for loading or unloading and they were keen on that.
You don’t say whether the company pay parking, but imagine 9 or 10 lorries camping out every night paying anything up to £25 parking and £26.20 subsistence. None of that money is recoverable from the customer unless they have caused the delay,
If the driver is making the mistake of including his night out money in his wages, that can cause problems. Night out money is for beer and food, not for the wife to waste on laundry products, that’s what her housekeeping is for!
Just reporting my experience fellas. My boss made the right choice and he will thus be rewarded whilst Albion gets on the blower to the agency and gets his arse a good seeing to

Albion is right, best to let them go now as things are very seldom the same afterwards, not sure his arse would be a problem

Er - I suspect you may find that Albion kept her arse quite safe from any agency seeing-to by the simple expedient of never using agency drivers…
