Heard on from few coworkers that the boss was to cut back on nights out
Also last night all but 4 drivers were back in the yard by about 5pm , the odd 4 were on nights out

Have about 50 trucks 8 are dark side rest general
Most of general is either building products or bailed cardboard plastic

Maybe he thinks a few people have been taking the mick with nights out, stopping out when they could comfortably make it back to the yard within their time. If you’re paid a day rate instead of hourly then making drivers work an extra hour or two instead of paying night out money will provide quite a big saving for the company

My old firm used to"nip up"at this time of year.
Couldn’t really argue tbh…as long as they didn’t expect me to stay out friday night.
It’s either less distance being run needing less driving time within the 9 hours and/or less drops/collections being carried over for the next shift.
While realistically it’s amazing that the industry is able to stagger on under these unsustainable fuel costs.Resulting from punitive fuel taxation which is all about removing trucks from the road.No one should be surprised to see that situation starting to bite.
If the loads don’t warrant running off. and you can get there and back with tommorows load on, then it’s home time and company is saving money. If I can get home then I will, rather be in my own bed, and use my own toilet.

Obviously different company but same thing (general stuff and Palletforce) but we’re stacked out atm. Its fine absolutely bonkers. Also the Kinaxia side is getting mad busy so we’re getting mobbed from regular customers on general, mobbed by Palletforce and now mobbed by stuff from other Kinaxia depots. Euro is busy too, been over far more than usual.
We’re running at double the amount of stuff compared to last year.
