I have many a fond memory of being away with my Grandad and uncles in the wagon.
Which firms out there still allow this to happen?

Mine. Not that I would inflict my scrotum scratching work self on anyone I truly cared for…

Me too pal, went all over Europe as a nipper and it was a great experience, I still think there are firms out there that allow it though…

Me too, my dad used to drive a low loader when I was a kid, weekends and holidays were a adventure…
Maybe that is a contributing factor to the lack of drivers now, no one goes out with their dad/uncles ect and don’t get the introduction to the business we did
My wife comes with me sometimes.
Her dad is the boss mind…
I do miss the days of going out with my dad, this was late 80’s/early 90’s. Towards the end of that time though it wasn’t the firm that wouldn’t allow me out with him, it was the companies we were delivering/collecting who began banning it for health and safety reasons.
Used to have to hide under a sleeping bag or behind the passenger seat sometimes and stay there for hours until we left
I haven’t taken my son out in the lorry yet (do you need child seats in a lorry?) but he has been in the diggers in our yard. My boss strongly believes that teaching them young is the way. His 11 and 14 year old sons can drive the lorries and plant in the yard pretty well. In fact the 14 year old was out on our mini digger, topsoiling someones’ garden today.
There are some
Have seen a few kids in wagons this week & last
My daughter comes along in holidays and enjoys nights out, company allows passengers only a small firm I work for tho,
but as said above some places you go don’t like children on there premises even if you tell them she wil stay in can.
not only the missus an kids ,I jacked a job once an left the motor at a southern depot(difference in opinion over 26hr days)/,well I got a lift out to a service station and waited an low an behold a good mate pulled in for a break on his way north as well. What a kin pantomime to get home I had tae hide in the bunk all the way home as it was no passengers etc, needed a jimmy about southwaite ended up wae one o his old company jumpers/jacket on in case I was spied. what a change since dad driving ,mum in the passenger seat and me an my brother on the bonnet o a riever /chieftan
Our place don’t mind, my little lad who’s 6 came with me on b/h Monday.
Shame you don’t get family days. Lot of kids idolise their dad and think he is some kinda lorry driving superhero and it would be a memory that would never leave them. But it’s rare as hens teeth these days. I had my first ride in a Malcolms truck when I was 8/9 still remember it. But I don’t think it was even allowed by Malcolms back then as I had to sneak into the cab outside the yard
Always went with dad whenever I got the chance. Then when I got my class 1, I used to take him out.
its all about common sense
its just not practical to take passengers
to some places no matter how old
went with my dad from about 4 years old, drover them from about 13 then went on and got my class 1.
mind you having seen the state of some drivers on the roads nowadays and the driving standards its maybe a good thing.
Doing a job with the JCB tomorrow just around the corner from my nephews so I’ll have two passengers. Three if my missus is visiting her mothers tomorrow as my boy wont miss out.

If firms ok with it seat rules are same as in your car
I used to take my ex the last firm i worked for,she did my head in with putting her feet on the windscreen, always wanting a ■■■■ and once she went in the services thought it was a shopping trip, always winging about being hungry, moaning about it being bouncy in the cab, always yawning the list goes on and on
thinking about it i should have left with no money miles away from home when it was ■■■■■■■ it down ,■■■■■
