seth 70:
I used to take my ex the last firm i worked for,she did my head in with putting her feet on the windscreen, always wanting a ■■■■ and once she went in the services thought it was a shopping trip, always winging about being hungry, moaning about it being bouncy in the cab, always yawning the list goes on and on thinking about it i should have left with no money miles away from home when it was ■■■■■■■ it down ,■■■■■
I can’t wait till my daughters old enough to bring with me, I hardly see enough of her as it is! But I think 1 and a half’s a bit to young lol can picture having to take nappie change breaks sure the boss would have summit to say.
I think as soon as she’s old enough to take instructions she’ll be fine so quite a few years to go, if ever!
We do mostly farm work so no h&s rules at all which I love. Rdc’s etc drive me insane.
My lad went with me all over the country, ratchet strap to hold his car seat in as the truck had no belts. Changed plenty of his nappies whilst out on the road, never been a problem apart from having to watch balamory about 20 times a day. He used to get fed for free at Lee mills truck stop.
in 2009 I asked my gaffer if my girlfriend (now wife) could go with me for a night. She was at uni so had plenty of time to kill. He simply said ‘no problem, just don’t stain the bunk’
I went out with my old man as soon as I was out of nappies, but even then (in the black & white days) there were loads of places I wasn’t allowed in, I either used to sit in the gatehouse, which was good as I could watch all the other lorries or if he had a sleeper cab I would hide in the bunk.
I remember those gatehouses all smelled the same and they were always roasting hot inside, there were usually mucky books in the toilets too [emoji38]
Ours used to turn a blind eye so long as we were discreet though official company policy said no passengers; since the new regime came in though it’s not worth the hassle, too many junior pole-climbers who’d grass on you.
They say a part of why not so many drivers are coming into the game these days is down to kids no longer going with there dads in trucks in the hols Or sat mornings . I used to go all the time even if it was just to go to the tank farm just to wash out even if he was just passing after school
