Thanks for posting the photos, went a few times with Dad pulling Patrick tilts, from there yard in Kettering to a shoe factory in Brescia Italy, took cow hides out there and bought shoes back to Leicester, Dad seemed to do this run for quite a while, don’t know how long Comarts subbed to Patrick for ■■

Ant
Hi Ant; No, I don’t know how long either. I still speak to Patricks director occassionally, so i’ll ring him and ask out of curiosity. I used to do the cow hides too. Lovely smell…
Brilliant, feel free to post any Comart pics, if I’m not mistaken is that darlow in the photos I think his 1st name was Phil ■■
Once travelled with him in his truck down to Italy when i was with dad and my mum was with us - thought it was great to be in another truck !!
Regards

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Good bloke. I worked for Comart between 1975 & 1978 so knew most of the drivers (and the trucks). I never thought I would see any of them again so thanks for the effort taken to put them up on this thread - twice if I understand correctly. I will keep my eye on the thread now that I have found it. Kind regards.

Phil Darlow lives about 300 yards from me.
He did attend the first Stoke drivers reunion 3 years ago,but he didn’t come to the one last year.
We have a night shift fitter on our place, tall lad with a limp, never known to smile, named Alan, used to work for Thor I believe.

Hi All,
Called to see a freind of my Dads who drove with him on Comarts, Steve Baddeley, had a good chat and he has kindly
lent me a photo album of his time on the road.
Hiya ant…the chap in the volvo look very much like Dereck Birch you haven,t mentioned his name did,nt know if it helped
he lives in Leek
John
It does look like Derek Birch. It could be BLG 969M which was an 8 speed 290. It’s got the broad black grille. Derek got hi-jacked at Aosta once and ended up a bit further south, ■■■■■■■ on the bunk, with his load already tipped for him.
Steve looks to be standing by one of the Belgian LHD 240s with the big wheels. HFA 136N?

John
Hiya ant… is your unit painted red or white i saw a red unit and white tank as i was going to essex just before xmas.
how many trucks has MJ got on that contract…poped in to see the 88 on Jan 2nd wow it looks good it was up in the air
and she looks new underneath. theres just the spots and the mirrors to go on now and some lineing on the tank.
John
Hiya ainacs… that volvo of pats dosen,t look like that any more it looks brand new its gained a headboard and
a visor and a new paint job and sign writting. it will be out at malvern for the auction and it will have some intrest.
John
Thanks for the feed back, thought Steve said that the guy in the photo in the black grilled 88 was Billy mcCall, but could be wrong.
Will have to call to see 137 if its nearly done, yes John it may have been me, got the 05 Topline Scania, we pull different tanks, but you can spot my truck - its the one with the viking bear in the window.
Bestbooties, any chance of seeing if Darlow has any photos he could lend you ■■
Hi there; I’m pretty sure it’s Derek Birch in the photo but Steve Baddeley would know as he was there! By the way, didn’t Phil Darlington have 138N at one stage? I think Bill McCall lived in Meir?
Been a while since anything was posted on here, but have had another delv in Mums photo box and come up with these,
Anybody know who they are 22.08.11.- now know whon they are Wheeler, Alf Jung and Jonnie Wood
This one is Eddie devile and John Davies working hard on the boat - turns out I now work with Johns lad Shaun (on MJS) and also John Mastersons son (Lee) is on MJS - John worked on Thor, Comart and Moorlock
Lee has promised me some photos, but I’ve been waiting for about 6 months now, so I won’t hold my breath !!!
Talking to Shaun, I found out that this is Shauns Dad on the Blanc with his burnt out ERF, which my dad went out to fetch - small world !!!
And this is Gill Merrick with my Dad in Germany who it turns out is Mick Shirleys father in Law !!!
I had a chance meeting with Andy McCutcheon off of Barry Proctors (on the cabin in Thurrock the other night) whos Dad (Pete McCutcheon) also worked for Comarts for many years, hopefully Andy will be posting some of his Dads photos - Look forward to them
The guy drinking from the beaker and standing alongside is almost certainly Alf Jung. He was (is) a German. He mostly drove LEA 74P during my time at Comart.
Comart took delivery of LEA 69P through to LEA 74P (F88 290s) and Moorlock got LEA 75P and LEA 76P. I guess the order was placed with Hartshorne when Dennis Moor and Maurice Locket still worked at Comart.

PTT, thanks for the info, I know Steve Baddeley had LEA 74 P from new, until he had one of the 1st F10s, theres a photo of him with it on here, Andy ( Pete McCutcheons lad) sent me a load of photos last night which I will hopefully put on later, theres a lot of driver photos, so if you can help with any names that are missing,
What is your name and how long where you on there ?
Hi All,
As promised Andy Mccutcheon sent me some of his Dads photos last night, theres about 50 of them so I’ll load them in batches
thanks Andy for sharing these with us.
I was with Comart from 1975 to 1978. I was one of the bad guys though. The only trip I ever did was frozen peas to Paris then empty to Cesena for peaches back to London. And Petal did all the driving.
I’ll add what information I can, but the only photos I have are in the brochure, most of which you have posted.
