Comart Advert
The following papers were a statement given by my Dad, refering to a claim against a load of game delivered to Sweden in 1974, just shows the perils of carrying perishable goods and making sure you are covered by insurance, as blame can be laid everyhwere - hope you can read it, shouldn’t think this will affect anybody, as I don’t think any of the companies exist anymore !!
Comart’s Letter heading
The following are a few of my Dads running sheets, a batch of about 200 I found in a Townsend Thoresen carrier bag in my mums cupboards ( boy she keeps some stuff !!!- thank goodness) along with some wage slips, I wish I was on his money in conparison now !!! (I’ll not post them)
Last one is from part of the Comart brochure, a photo of one of the fitters working (or posing) on a F88 - don’t know what is name was.

Hi All, I remember seeing 2 Comart trucks in Belfast in the early 1970s. I was very young and was mad keen on lorries! I remember thinking they looked really good and getting my pencils and paper out and drawing one when I got home. I never heard of Comart again between then and very recently. I never forgot the nameand ‘googled’ it a couple of weeks ago. Google directed me to TruckNet and here I am! int this interweb thing good?! The photos on this thread are absolutely fantastic.Although I drive for a living,I am still drawing and painting lorries(check out www.andrew-mcdevitte.co.uk) and I would like to do a painting or drawing of a Comart F88 in the old livery but just wondered what the writing on the side of the fridges said after COMART-it is difficult to see from the photos.
Thanks

Thanks for the posts, Carl great find with HFA 136 N, looks like it was taken in whitechapel, waiting to go into Smithfield.
Found another couple of photos, both a bit embarassing, I was only about 7 or 8 !!
1st one taken in Vigo - Spain next to the Canberra, delivering ships stores, the guy in the photo was a Fransen driver, he had a 111 or 141 and I remember it having a large air horn on the roof vent, which when riding around vigo solo looking for a bar, I constantly blew - kids ah !!!
The 2nd one was taken while loading on a vineyard in Foggia southern Italy, took 3 days - handball
This is a lovely thread. Some really cracking photos too! Heres a couple of mine to add to the content.
Don’t ask me why I didn’t get both Volvo’s in the shot
Patrick International from Kettering had “some troubles” with a group of driver’s. On their return to the yard they were instantly sacked. Next day, Comarts arrived to haul the trailers. That’s all I know. Nice photos though…
Thanks for posting the photos, went a few times with Dad pulling Patrick tilts, from there yard in Kettering to a shoe factory in Brescia Italy, took cow hides out there and bought shoes back to Leicester, Dad seemed to do this run for quite a while, don’t know how long Comarts subbed to Patrick for ■■
