I decided to download the trial yesterday and tried it today. I found I was unable to change the route it planned. Even selecting avoid road made no difference. I have also set strongly avoid local roads. It took me through Lincoln rather than round the A46/A15. Not a problem at 5 this morning to see but would have been a nightmare at 5 tonight.

My £40 ebay joblets me avoid roads with no problem. They are currently offering 25% off it says so only £60 but I’m not even sure its worth that

That isn’t the fault with CoPilot is it really, you not knowing how to use it so you call it. You can adjust the routes very simply, you can plan your routes from scratch also. I use it Daily but you do have to know how to use it to actually use it.

Why would a truck satnav take me through a city centre in the first place? The ring round is 3 miles further but far better.

I put my destination post code in and looked at the route and saw I wasn’t happy. I went into the list of directions and selected avoid road. It changed 1 option but was still through the city so tried again but it wouldn’t change. How is this me not knowing how to use it?

If there is more to it than that why? My cheap ebay one doesn’t.

I expect it to plan the route it thinks best for a truck. I then check and amend as I see fit. The route it gave me this morning was no way suitable for a truck. If it gives routes like that may as well just use Google maps.

I can honestly say it has rarely given me a bad route but when it has I just adjust it, no satnav is perfect but CoPilot allows you to alter the route. You are saying you couldn’t alter the route. That is either your fault or your device.

Plan a route from Bicker Lincs to Grimsby europarc and see what route it takes around, or through Lincoln.

I even pressed alternative route and said none found. For a “premium” product, even if not TomTom prices it should be more reliable than that. I am on Android but there are comments on the Google play about it not adjusting routes so it doesn’t look like its me or my device

yes mate you can be sure that these prats getting stuck in narrow town centre roads are using co pilot

If your stupid enough to drive down a road that gets you stuck in the first place, that isn’t the satnavs fault, that’s you not checking your route. You can’t simply follow a satnav. :unamused:

take no notice of tramp mate ,he is just trying to push his shoddy product

no surprise mate ,co pilot is crap
you can get a tom tom truck sat nav with life time traffic and map updates for under 200 quid
but even the cheap chinese e bay ones are better than co pilot crap

I paid £40 for a Novatec. Its not perfect but its ok. I have spoken to drivers who have paid several hundred who say theirs aren’t perfect either. So why bother?

to be honest the features on the go professional tom tom 520 for less than 200 quid are worth it
it reads out loud your whats app messages , without you touching the device
the traffic updates will save you hours every week as you avoid road closures , congestion and RTC’s
with the app you can plan routes anywhere and send to the device
honestly mate i could go on , cos there is so much to it 200 quid will be the best 200 quid you have ever spent

You are telling people to buy a TomTom for £200. You are just a satnav follower who has no knowledge of driving a truck, it is the likes of you who get into problems in the first place, learn to use a map and then get a satnav. You will never get stuck again or ever call a satnav crap. It is you in the driving seat and not the satnav.

It is you who has insulted me, you are the one who constantly comes on to any satnav post stating your rubbish. Your not even a driver that’s the funniest bit.

You got your words jumbled there mate, it should read I am no fridge expert.

My 248 year old Snooper has never sent me on an unsuitable route. I put that cheifly down to the fact that I never have the volume on and rarely glance at it. I’ve even thrown away that aerial thingy for traffic warnings as I don’t care if I’m stuck or not.

Just done that route on my iphone, it hasnt tried to take me through Lincoln though, it has given a route of 59.9 miles and a drive time of 1hr 27 mins.

153/158? 153 is shut, not sure can get through. Also thats not a great road, lots of hills, twists and turns. Far better to go a17/15 to keep smother on the cruise.

Tried CoPilot Professional again today while I was out with another driver doing 10 deliveries to private houses in Essex (Canvey Island, Dagenham, Hornchurch, Tilbury etc) in a 12T rigid. After twice attempting to route us through 6’ 6" width restrictions and also coming up with a route through a 7.5T weight limit I kicked it into touch and went back to my trusty TomTom (which immediately routed us around said restrictions). The TomTom isn’t perfect by any stretch, but to my eyes it stands head and shoulders above CoPilot for the sort of runs I use it for. Using a Trucker Atlas didn’t help either - the roads concerned were in residential areas and the restrictions simply don’t appear in the Philip’s Navigator road atlas due to the scale.

It is showing the route of A52 then onto the A16 then onto A180

Have you set the restrictions in? Interested to know what your using it on, this all seems odd as I don’t know one person that has had any real issues with it, it is integrated into lots of fleet devices now.

Yes, it was stupid of me. But most of us have the odd off day. I’ve had many. Actually I was pretty pleased at managing to reverse out without making the situation worse.

Even though it was my fault I was still ■■■■■■ at the bloody thing sending me there in the first place.

A16 north of Boston is another twisty route. Not one I would take in a truck. Its probably worse than the 158.

To be clear my issue isn’t that I went in the direction of Lincoln, but that it took me through the city rather than the ring road

I cannot understand why you couldn’t simply just re route yourself by selecting where you want to go. I use mine by choosing the route I want from my Atlas then enter it into CoPilot so it just tells me where to turn off rather than actually routing me.
