Cleaning the trucks on a sat

I would add I look after my trucks , I’ was always polishing / washing my last and previous trucks , so this one will be kept the same , I’ll wash it through the week no problem with that , but I don’t want too come in on a Saturday to do it , and I don’t see why I should wash other drivers trucks who can’t be bothered too do it themselves , what next wipe there ■■■ for them :exclamation: :exclamation: .
I think there’s a bit of they won’t do it ( some ) of the existing drivers so I’ll get my mate dozy too do it :exclamation: :exclamation: ,

This isn’t going to end well …

No ,this is the only issue , very straight forward job , just a- b- a night trunk , no pressure , if you got on with it you could be done in 6 hrs I recon , but boss ( mate ) said keep it round 40 hrs and he’s happy .( he’s biss of depot not firm ) ,
Should of done it years ago :smiley:

What would you rather do doze mate.
Be run ragged as you were by your last shower of sh, to the point of you having a nervous breakdown.

OR

Work for your mate (who will presumably look after you) so in return help him out for a couple of hours on a Sat morning by washing a couple of his motors, even if you are not really keen?

Give and take mate, give and take.

I was talking to a driver just this week who does what dozy did up until recently. I asked him about the job and he told me it was a doddle. He said there was the odd fifth night out but only if held up on site etc.

He painted a very different picture to dip [zb] dozy.

The job is a doddle , it’s just a a-b-a night trunk , 8 hrs max ) , guaranteed 50 hrs , I just don’t want to work Saturdays washing other drivers trucks who can’t be bothered themselfes ,would you :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:
Anyway as you were talking too this other driver about the job , I guess your thinking of leaving , do it , I should of years ago , money at stobarts is shocking , I’m getting the same for 40 hrs max as I did for 70 hrs , with nights out
What’s that letter say for new pay rise , 14p p.h pay rise , Sunday new rate £11.82 p.h :exclamation: :exclamation: ,I’m on more than that p.h mon - fri :smiley: :smiley: :smiley: .
Get out h/s by staying your becomming the laughing stock of this industry , grow some balls and do what I’ve done , stick 2 fingers up too there pittance pay rates .

Quality! :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

Dozy mate, shouldn’t you be giving it a few months first to see HOW it pans out?

So if I’m reading this correct

Your boss (mate) is doing you a favour by giving you a easy job, is paying you 50 hours per week but telling you to keep it to around 40 hours (so you get 10 hours wage for doing nothing) …

…and you don’t like the idea of having to come in a Saturday morning for a couple of hours to wash down some wagons? As a “favour” for your boss (mate) now and again?

I’ve told you before dozy. I’m not paid like you were. My take home pay is more than some of the big balls on here boast about getting top line. I don’t work for the same outfit you did.

Who the ■■■■ washes trucks? I did it a couple of times at one job but that was because the screen and mirrors got that filthy I couldn’t see.

Did it the other day, but I buggered off when the boss went home, went back in to clock out (home is about 10 minutes away).

Oh yes…Roffes lincolnshire with their Daf 2300’s pulling Norfolk Line tilts at 38ton :grimacing:

Ha ha, yes at 38 ton and a bit, quite often in My experience :smiley: .

Funny you say that, used to see the 2300’s really struggling to pull these trailers even at low speeds, 15mph (guessing) even on a very very slight gradient and used to wonder at the time how much they were really grossing… :slight_smile:

No , that’s the job , all the night trunkers do similar ,he hasn’t given me anything the other driver night trunking arnt getting , as for washing down wagons , if I keep mine nice and clean why should I come in on a Saturday to wash those who can’t be bothered too wash there own trucks :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: , what next ,wash there cars , cut there grass etc :unamused: :unamused:

You’ve been told what the job is - if you don’t want to do it, find another job. I hear there’s a vacancy in Stobrats…

I’m going too do the job , I’m just not going too work Saturdays and wash other drivers trucks , and no there’s not a vacancy , so I was told there’s 180 vacancies that need filling by October on one contract alone , but I’ll not be returning , why would I want to work 70 hrs a week / nights out for the same money I’ll be getting for 40 hrs p.w !!

If it’s part of the job description and all the other drivers do it then I don’t see any issue with it.

If it’s unpaid and he was just expecting you to do it every other Saturday then I would agree it’s an issue, but from what I’ve seen its a “you scratch my back I scratch yours” situation

Don’t fear, dozy will be here next week saying that he’s on good money working less hours than he’s paid for, and still expected to buy his own in cab air fresheners and loo roll.

In answer too some question , you won’t be run ragged , it’s a straight trunk and back , 8 hrs max ( can be done quicker ) but boss ( mate ) said keep it round the 40 hrs and he’s happy with that ( paid 50 ) , the only thing that may change is you may do b- c - b , instead of your normal a-b-a , but all are steady runs .
as for cleaning trucks , some look like drivers clean there own , others , well they look like they’ve never seen water :unamused: , I don’t mind a hour at the beginning of shift as I can still get done in 8 hrs easily , but not doing Saturday .
Going with regular driver for 3 days too learn the job :open_mouth: :open_mouth: ( what you need too learn about driving from a- b I don’t know , but if that the plan well go with it , ) , but I’ll have a chat with him about this cleaning and how they work it

I can see that b-c-b trunk working out well…

Is it just me, …but wtf are abc bbc and bcb trunks? :neutral_face:

a=where you’re at
b=where you’re going
a= back where you’re at.

b= where you’re not
c= where you’re supposed to go
b=where you’re still not at.

Hth :laughing:

Sounds like you’ve landed a good number doze.

Try and shake off the corporate attitude your used to, this sounds a smaller operation with a close nit group of drivers.

Do the job as told, don’t dash about and if trucks want washing just do as requested, no doubt other drivers will be doing the same.

You must shake off the 'I’m not cleaning somebody else’s truck mentality it’s a totally different ethos your working in. As mentioned it sounds more like you tickle my scrotum I’ll tickle yours than stobbies.

Good luck and please no threads in 2 months time about how you’ve fell out with your mate.
