I got her for about 12 years; She was abandoned from 2006 till last month, when a lovely bloke brought her to me by trailer. I’m collecting parts for MOT now, a replacement headlight just been ordered from Italy. (Headlight; 28 euros. Postal cost: 38 Euros .
It has a 2 litres engine, the tax £135 for 6 months…

What is it? Looks like a Fiat Regata that’s had 132 doors put on it.

I have a Fiat Argenta (1983)
I had a 1600E as a lad, 1969 on a G plate. Oh I wish I had it now . . . memories of when Ford made decent cars.

Thanks SK, though it was nearly 40 posts back!
trouble is the petition states…
30 years old seems a sensible cut off point and help keep cheap motoring and older vehicles on the road.
cheap motoring and older vehicles on the road is what the government wants to remove. so the petition is not very well worded. but we live in hope

Retired Old ■■■■:
I had a Mini van with a tuned 1340cc motor, 12 inch wheels and MG1300 final drive.
All these years on and I still wish I’d never sold it- never even took a photo of it.Same here.
I had a 1983 Mazda RX7, same with that, wish I’d kept it.
When I was at Maritime a few years back, I had and used part of each week, a Sierra XR4x4 2.9i, not in the same league but try getting a replacement now, just a few years on…
Also owned a Citroen BX that was wrote off by a drunk in a nicked car and a Renault 21 turbo that I blew the turbo on and sold for peanuts
Also a 1980 (so not old) Land Rover Series III that I sold about 6 or 7 years ago, let it go far too cheap
my sister has an '83 RX7,had it for years, and uses it every summer

You’re dead right. I’ve seen some awfully worded partitions and sometimes even for things that parliament is already debating or has recently debated!

Actually is a “reshaped” Fiat 132. A kinda “provisional” model… Cos the sellings of the 132 were fallen back, but the Croma was not yet ready they facelifted the 132 and named it “Argenta”. Bigger boot, more electric gadgets, etc. And more brick shaped.
Regata was the brother of “Ritmo” (on the UK market; “Strada”), its engine was crossway in the front and the traction was on the front wheels as well.
Ah I see, thanks for the explanation. I once found a 132 GLS auto in metallic blue for a friend. He kept it years and had it converted to LPG. It was a nice car. On an X plate IIRC so would be one of the last.
The problem is, classics are seen as a luxury, so in the current ecconomic climate it wouldn’t exactly be looked on favourably by the masses if the government were to re implement the rolling 25 year exemption. I wish they would though as Ive got one at 30 years old and another at 25years old. There’s only my Minor and Fergie tractor that it currently applies to.
Another of my collection awaiting restoration.

Do not forget the background: thousands of small businesses, who make parts, body panels, etc. Parcel companies, who have a massive profit on online parts deliveries… The economic climate is always bad.

Nice one…
Just found this one of my old Rover
I tend to prefer the word Retro to Classic, currently have a 1300 mk4 ■■■■■■ Bonus waiting patiently for funds to restore. Past cars to grace my garden/driveway have included a mk2 ■■■■■■ Harrier (still kicking myself for selling it), mk3 ■■■■■■ XR3i, 2 x mk4 ■■■■■■ RS Turbo’s (rareish H reg and very late reg’d K reg), Cortina Carousel (bought as an unfinished resto which should have been read as never started resto).
Not mine but a Harrier nonetheless, never took pics of mine
Poor old Cortina (Ended up as a donor for a banger, the shame)
XR3i - again never made it back on the road, had to move house so lost storage,
And finally my last RS Turbo, never took any pics of the H reg. Totally standard, never been messed with. Bought in UK in 1989 unregistered, stored and then exported to Holland and finally reg’d in 1992, then brought back to UK in 2000 and due to 1st reg being 1992, was given a K prefix.
after a 2 year restoration on my 75 bug it is now nearly ready for the road, bloody tax puts a downer on it

My tax free 1600e , I do agree that the tax free period should have rolled on 0
That does look good , well done . Have a couple of summer toys , and all I have to do is put a plate on them for a minimum of a month , no tax or mot bs . Eg , E36 BMW convertible with S14 2.3 running gear costs $200cdn which equates to 140 quid for 3 months summer fun , plus breakages of course
