Hi guys, I’m in the Swindon area and was wandering if anyone knows of a company that recruits trainee class 1 drivers gives them a licence and the employee doesn’t pay a penny for the licence as long as they stay with the company for say a year?

On a historical note I tried this idea out back in 1971 when I was a 21 year old student. I took a miserable job delivering parcels for national carriers in Leicester with the sole intention of getting on the week long HGV class 1 course at the NCL training centre at Peterborough .I did 8 months on a small commer walk through van and left in frustration still with no HGV they must have got the idea that I would leave as soon as I got it . I eventually got a class one and full PSV in 1974 after a few years working abroad by which time I had a few bucks behind me and could afford to pay for my own training.
