Class 1 drivers wages

hotel magnum:
on a serious note, I was up for the buttons until I saw they were mixed, from as young as I can remember being blonde hair and having to wear n/ health wire glasses, everyone force fed me milky bars I hated the things, so no mixed buttons for me.
and as for the glasses I hide them everywhere, in the oven, among the ashes of the fire, down the toilet, threw them up trees or in the hedge, then a stay in Westbourne eye hospital at about 7 or 8 job done, and I was given the cooper-jarrett-inc twin trailer lorry set made by lesney, a bigger boy thought he was going to swap my lorry for a broken fire engine, a quick black eye sorted that, even if all the world poured scorn upon me for fighting in a hospital, he did not try again though, and I still have it although well play worn and the other trailers and bits bought at jumble sales, 6 trailers 2 units 2 dollies, sorry I drifted off a bit then,

Westbourne Eye Hosp long gone - RBH now and make an appt first, no more drop ins.

thats another over my head

For me you’ve got to aim high in the first place. I only passed my test march 21st but was determined that when i passed a wouldn’t go driving for some crap company. I wanted a nice truck, uniform, and a decent wage. Started applying to firms a thought were decent before i passed and bingo got an interview with jerks on 23rd and started and 1st of April. Maybe i was lucky but is it not better to aim high than keep jumping from crap job to crap job. That’s why people are leaving and company’s pay rubbish wages. They know people are desperate for work so will keep on this slave driving.

Was meant to say jenks.

Absolutely correct.

Well I definitely ruffled a few feathers with this post. As usual, you get the knuckle dragging idiots with all their sarcasm.
It seems a lot of you do think the same as me.
I am a class 1 driver, experienced, no points, have been number 1 on the mymix driving scheme in the whole of the Large company I work for. I’m on £13 an hour, work 4 on 4 off. Yes theres scope to make more money. That’s not the point. Drivers wages in the area I live, greater Manchester, in my eyes need to be more. I’m not on here moaning or crying like a little ■■■■■. Just thought I would post this and see what response I’d get. Enjoy your day chaps and ladies

Completely Disagree with Winseer.

If you want change vote Labour.

At the worst at least all drivers will be on at-least £10ph.
Unions will not doubt get more rights so will also have more say in the workplace.

As for the argument that Labour will bankrupt the country I think its a poor one. Also
If you do not earn a lot of money than voting labour makes the most sense as any tax increase will likely not affect you.

My view of british politics is that it is a see-saw. Labour spend too much and then the tories come in with austerity. rinse and repeat. I think this has worked for quite a long time now and will continue to do so.

Lets also not forget that when Labour introduced the minium wage people like Winseer were not doubt claiming that this would bankrupt our country and put alot of companies out of business.

Was it any better under labour?

Best way to get a better rate of pay is do what I did and move to the East Midlands. I was from Norfolk and in 2000 I moved to the so called golden triangle and never look back. Choice of work from Supermarkets to general haulage, Mostly good pay and not pushed too hard. that’s what I did and it worked for me.

Walking floor work going at our place, £30k per year plus night out money. Average about 45-50 per week. Mon - Friday.

That’s not bad money to be fair.

£2000 a month take home. Yea, you can get more elsewhere but you have to put up with irregular hours, weekends and other BS.

Oh dear someone hasn’t been keeping up with things have they?

Labour pan to scrap the marriage allowance which will mean over 2 million people paying £250 more tax.

Labour also plan to bring in a dividend charge. This means someone who has a pension which consists of stocks and shares, which are most of them, would have to pay a dividend charge. It would mean someone who takes an annuity of £4k a year would pay an additional £400 in tax meaning someone who is getting a total pension income below the minimum personal allowance would pay £400 tax on that income a year.

Three steps forward, one step back.
Still in front.

not good - if you’re facing the wrong way to start with.

Back in 1997, people turned against the Tories, elected a Labour government, and initially it looked like it was going to work, what with Gordon Brown boasting about “ending boom and bust” etc.
Then it all went sour when the Credit Crunch gave Labour the choice of either bailing out the banks, OR letting them fail, which would have only hurt people with massive savings, and written off indebted people’s massive borrowings… Labour chose to help the ones that they knew soon they would need to lend them more money, so close Labour must have been to "finally running out of the strong balance sheet inherited from the outgoing 1997 Tory government. Gordon Brown - might have even held on - had he gone for an early election, rather than “hang it out” until he HAD to hold one - 2010. The incoming coalition government in 2010 would have worked better if Cleggy had advanced in seats, rather than lost just enough to require any Labour coalition to require a third or more partner in such a “rainbow coalition”. I voted for Cleggy’s Libdems that year. Cleggy then decided he didn’t want to prop up Gordon Brown, but rather a NEW Labour leader, and ended up with Cameron’s austerity-packed Conservatives… Libdem voters like me - never forgave him for that, and we ditched the Libdems in droves at the 2015 election… It was only a matter of timing that the new “Big Issue” by that point had become Brexit, with myself voting UKIP to try and get that referendum… At no stage along the line had I argued to “scrap the minimum wage” or “decrease it”. Indeed, I’ve often argued that the “minimum wage” should actually be the LIVING wage, but I guess no one pays any attention when I am not slagging off mainstream politicians…

I’ll chuck you lefties a bone right now - I don’t believe for a minute that Labour would bankrupt this country, since they’d just get into power - and then declare "Sorry about our spending promises. Turns out the Tories left us with empty coffers, and we cannot fulfil ANY of them. BUT we can increase the numbers of thought police, compliance officers, human rights lawyers, and bloat the public sector back to Gordon Brown levels to give you workshy types - a 35 hour week salary for just turning up, and going sick four weeks per year on top of your holidays…"

“Taxes - they’ll only be going up for those earning more than the minimum wage that has now increased… Bully for you on upto £12 per hour then, - not so good for those of you earning above that, nor workers earning above that once on overtime neither.

I’d agree with this as well but more on the point of the above with the West Yorkshire where there are lads doing 5 nights out and a saturday run in for 9 per hour or 450/500 home, why they aren’t driving an hour in their car twice a week to Doncaster, East Midlands, Immingham, North Yorkshire, Manchester wherever else to get the better rates
