Cruise Control:
Are any rdc open Xmas day? Imagine only truck drivers working will be dairy, sewage collections??
You’d be surprised just how many trucks are on the road over Christmas. Mainly fridges on European work.
As an example I was coming back from the south of France last Christmas day having delivered and reloaded on the 23rd and there was a fair amount of UK registered trucks on the road both in France and the UK.
The french only have Christmas day off, boxing day isn’t a holiday so they’re in work and expect their deliveries.
The firm I work for has to meet the demands of their french customers so quite a few drivers will be out working for the entire Christmas period. It’s all part of the joys of working in a fresh food sector where production to delivery has to be kept to the bare minimum.
Having said all that, I won’t be working Christmas this year, I’ll be starting my holiday on the 23rd Dec and then back again on or about the 7th April
