good riddance to the fat [zb]

just what i thought when i heard, fat unfunny [zb]

+1

+2.

He was good when he had the early morning show when he started on R1, before Spot Pills got it, but once he moved to brekky, he tried to become bigger than the station. I mean, who in their right mind would spout off that they hadn’t been paid? I would have sacked him there and then.

R1 is losing out big time to R2, because kids nowadays don’t listen to the radio like we do/did, that’s why R2’s figures are on the increase. Sure R2 has it’s faults, (Feltz is an example. If I want to have long words shoved down my throat, I’ll listen to a station that can.) but it plays music mostly from my era. (70’s 80’s. etc.)

I think Steve Wright might be the casualty here, and I have to say, I loved him when he was on R1, but now he’s had his day, and like as said previously, his not playing the songs fully, and singing with them has started to get on my ■■■■. Looks like he might end up at Smooth or somewhere similar to accommodate Moyles.

Ken.

Does anyone listen to early breakfast on radio 1?

best thing that could of happen.

I think most of you chaps are desperately trying to hang on to their youth by listening to Radio 1, despite hating most of it. If your over 25 they don’t want you, time to start listening to a grown up station like 6 Music.

Maybe replacing Steve Wright is on the cards; I heard a bit of the “big show” and they’ve dug up Barry from Watford. What is the joke here? I thought Old Windbag was bad enough.

I think Steve Wright is one of the least worst options in the afternoon. Non-stop oldies though WTF I don’t want to listen to someone else’s peculiar playlist choice haven’t they heard of itunes FFS. Suffers from the same sycophantic sidekick issue Moyles did.

Used to like Simon Mayo on Radio 1 not too keen on Radio 2 always way too much talking to Sally Traffic and other walk-ons.

Saying ‘too old for Radio 1’ is ok but you’ll struggle to find a single teenager that listens to it.

Rich The Stag:
So Chris Moyles has decided to quit the Radio 1 breakfast show. What is there to listen to now in the mornings?
It took me an age to get over wake up to wogan finishing and now its happening again
Cant stand Chris Evans, cant stand Nick Grimshaw so it looks like the cd player.
What are your thoughts?

He’s been fired -he would never quit.

Personally I’m gutted he’s going I can’t stand Evans when he was on radio 1’s brekkie show I started listening to radio 2 then went back to radio 1 after Wogan left. I’ve listened to radio 1 on and off for 30 years now, but don’t think I’ll last long with Grimmy so I’m going to have to find another station. It annoys the life out of me that someone has decided I’m too old for a radio station that I pay for. it’ll be like when they got rid of the likes of Simon Bates and D.L.T the figures will halve but it’ll be classed as a success because the average listener age will have gone down.Apparently the average age is 33 dunno how these kids who are now staying at school till 18 are supposed to listen to the station through the day anyway.

have been fortunate enough to meet mr moyles a few times its a shame he leaving radio 1 breakfast show I loved listening to that in mornings I certainly wont be listening to radio 1 no more

You are joking right? Or are you one of those crazy people that think every minute of the BBCs output should be catered to you and if it doesn’t its a case of ‘why am I paying for this?’.

Paying for BBC Corner Shop Radio annoys me though; BRITISH Broadcasting; Let them tune to Al (Qaeida) Jazeera if they want their own station.

I’m a big fan of the BBC I’d pay the licence fee for 6 music alone.BBC London has a few good shows on there. Absolute is the only commercial station I listen to.
If I want a personalised playlist I have the I pod

I only have R1 on when Chris Moyles is on as his humour appeals to me, even if I think a lot of the music is cack, but most of the show is talk anyway! and I agree that if you think he’s a big head you just don’t get it, or him. As far as I know his show is a unique format to the station, as the rest of R1 shows consist of one person playing tracks with a tedious "That was **** and this is*** " style, so why do they think it is a good idea to change the only unique format show with sucessful ratings, for another ordinary type show, I also think he would be a good replacement for Steve Wright on R2, as long as his team went with him.
Maybe Luke is right about older guys listening to R1 hanging on to a lost youth or whatever   , and on reflection maybe because a guy of my age likes it they probably have a point about target audiences

I’m a bit stuck; Too old at 32 almost 33 for Radio Lazy Student and not old enough to appreciate Popmaster and the “hello to (everyone they can think of” and I’m not gay so Heart FM is a no no.

If you dont like dj’s and you have an iphone or phone that can get the app ‘Tunein’ then get it and search for ‘Jack FM Bristol’ it has presenters on for 3 hours a day and the rest is just music and pretty much none of this modern crap!

Jack FM is available in Oxfordshire aswell; Same format but although it’s no repeats during the workday, you can be pretty sure you’ll hear the same song the following day :unamused:
At least it’s not Heart FM with it’s repeat, repeat repeat of Take That, Beyonce, JLS and tracks from Dirty Dancing…

Jack fm is also on around porthsmouth/soton area too…well worth a listen.

I find Moyles’s gravelly voice really distracting and not pleasant to listen to. Also his hangers on in the studio are annoying - why are they there?

Do listen to radio 4 but even that can become boring in the middle of the afternoon when some of the topics discussed border on the obscure.
