Cheap truck nav's on Flea Bay

Are they any good the one’s circa £70 or are they a case of you get what you pay for? Looking for a truck nav as I’m getting sent to central London more often nowadays and think it would help. Don’t mind paying for a Snooper/Garmin/TomTom but obviously if I can get a nav almost as good for a lot less I’m going to do it, just don’t want to waste my money.

Buy an A-Z cheaper.

Obviously I won’t be using it just for London, so do I get an a-z for everywhere■■? Also can you think of somewhere legal or safe to park in Park Royal to read an a-z and finally I use a motorbike to get to work, I already carry a truckers atlas on a daily basis how do you advise I carry all these a-z’s

I have got one mate, there just like a normal nav they try to send you down weight limits, no HGV Zones and width restrictions then you usually have to go 2-3 miles to find a safe place to turn it round which in central London costs you 30 mins

Streetview shows you all the restrictions, find your drop first and work back to the nearest main road, then look at the satellite view to see if their is any crossings over the roads you want to use then if you see one then go to street view and see if it has a restriction. Also check every junction on streetview for a 7.5ton 6’ 6" limit.

In theory this would be ok, only problem is with up to 10 drops in central London it would take far too much time to do, were nearly always already running behind due to having to wait in the morning to be loaded, quite often don’t make it back.

They’re crap.

End of.

Ken.

You get what you pay for …

I’ve got the Snooper S5000 and think its great I don’t take it as gospel and I still use the Phillips Truckers Atlas to check my routes out. I’ve spent probably £500+ on Maps but they take up too much room in the truck.

buy one of these for 70 quid. Pronav PNN350.

I got one after seeing a link on here, now I haven’t used it in London but have used it in other major cities…Dublin,Birmingham, Manchester etc etc and tbh it’s not a bad wee tool. Graphics aren’t great and not a brand name but comes preset for trucks with height restrictions and weight limits and so far hasn’t let me down. Still carry a good map though just in case

Thanks for that, it has helped, I currently use a Garmin Nuvi its nothing special.

I bought mine of amazon for £80 I think it was, it has a 7 inch screen, and for what I paid have to say its a good tool, very occasionally it tries to send me down a lane but if you have any common sense its not a problem, and a mate of mine has a snooper that does the same to him.
The biggest problem I find is that it doesn’t accept a full postcode (i.e.-LL13 2 instead of LL13 2AT) but most delivery notes have a street name so I haven’t really had too many problems with this.
But I’ve had it 3 years and its still going strong.

I bought one from China last 12/12. So far so good. It’s a brandless copy of a “proper” hgv Sat-nav. Paid £52 it came in under a fortnight. Although I was worried about getting an expensive box, it’s a nice piece of kit. So far I’ve used it in UK and France with no problems. I got it from eBay, the seller was trcomall

Got a prodrive hgv sat nav from ebay for £98 7 inch absolutely spot on

Use google maps & a normal a to z. Much more reliable!

Cheers

I agree they are crap and ain’t worth ten bob.
