limeyphil:
why would anyone need to fill out an application form? they either need a driver or they don’t. simple.
f.f.s phil ,you know as well as me why, thats how most big firms work, yes me +you would like to bell them up and get full s.p over phone, make our desision there and then, save wasting time, but they like it done in a set way,if you dont do it that way youll not get a interview.
ive a mate who worked for corby/innovate/stobarts for years and years, knew the job inside out,he left, decided new job wasnt for him so came back 4 months later, they sent him on a 3 day induction at crick, then when he got back from crick he had 3 days LEARNING THE JOB with me ,■■■■■■■■,but thats big firms for you,set ways
You have to do a driving assesment and if you pass that you get an interview there and then.Just apply online and wait for the response its all you can do.I got a phone call the same day when i applied. However i wouldnt work for them again they constantly change your job and prat you about. If your a tramper at the end of every week you have to take your gear out incase someone uses it.You cant even carry a gas stove!! I could go on but the only way you will decide is if you go do it
on page one of the application form it askes
Are you a SMOKER?
should i put no even though the answer is yes
Then it say
Please summarise briefly why you would like to become part of the Stobart Group Team:
Any tips and hints what I should put
I can’t say what you should put, but i smoke too and if it was me i’d be answering no to that question.
The other bit i would just say i would like to be part of what i see as a highly succesful and proffessional company…
They take you up the 62 to Howden and back over the blue bridge through Goole so its a mixed route.Well thats what i did anyway. I was out of Goole i just hope Amanda isnt your planner! She couldnt grasp one day what she was asking me to do was illegal so when i asked to see her boss she changed it!Cages are always overloaded on the tesco job and the trailers are a disgrace. They are supposed to be washed out every so often but they never do so if a jar of sauce gets spilt you can imagine what they get like.Saying that its years ago since i worked there

My mate applied weds. Morning and they rang him same day. He’s gona go for the experience, but I can’t see him being too keen on Amanda LOL.
No i wasnt! I started there on days then went tramping. Most of the work was tesco but when your tramping you get the distribution centres like Livingstone or Magor which means you dont tip it.I hated the general there but then again i like bulk tipper work! For example went to London did a trailer change then had to go to Coca Cola but when i got there i didnt have time to load and get out and have time to find somewhere to park so rung the planner.Got told go in next morning load and tip at Northampton then ring up so i did.You should have seen the amount of phone calls the next day that i got because i was late it was pathetic.Basically they were blaming me when it was the planners fauly for not allowing time.If your mate gets the job he will have to go on a three day course where you get shown everything from coupling a trailer up the stobart way to using the daft phone system.A pain but you get paid and they pay for the hotel for you with an evening meal! I went to Crick but a mate of mine was told he would have to go to Widnes.

To be fair a lot of that kind of thing happens in most haulage companies…the drivers blame the planners…the planners blame the drivers and so it goes on and on
My mate will be looking forward to three days learning how to couple a trailer n unit hes only been at it 27 years
It’s as misleading as an agency advert around here.
There isn’t a depot for there to be a vacancy at, so you think the ad is for trampers further afield.
When looking in to it, you find that “your speculative CV submission” is invited that’s all.
I would imagine there’s no proper RDC stobarts in this neck of the woods, 'cos they can’t afford (or don’t want to afford!) the £10ph going rate in these parts!

complacency can cost you your job/ life if you take your eye off the ball for one minute! 27 years or 27 mins! don’t underestimate the truck driver! never say NEVER!
Stobarts are based at tesco at Goole and do all the work out of there.Think the haulage has gone from Sherburn but the warehouses are still used.Your rite about the planner /driver thing but they couldnt run a ■■■■ up in a brewery there. To many of the planners havent a clue about trucks and anything to do with them. They look at a an b and think of a time but then you get silly times like they give you 8 hours to get from Goole to Livingstone!I just thought they had to many jobs coming in and to many trucks to deal with all at once

Your not wrong but my mate knows everything about everything anyway.
Each to their own the lad might like it but i hated it.I needed a job and went to see what all the fuss was about.I was brought up on bulk haulage and went back to it.For me its the best work
Bud143:
I WOULD never go back there!!! I would stack shelves in a supermarket before driving for them again.
Ha ha. I could’ve written that. Sounds like you had a similar experience to me.
I lasted three months Tramping out of Appleton last year before I ■■■■■■ them off and went on the agency. Only took a few weeks before I found the job where I am now but I’d rather work agency than Stobarts.
I still watch the show every week though.
OVLOV JAY:
I’ve heard if you want to be a stobart driver, you must have a dog
And a fondness for fresh air
The only fresh air you’re looking at is inside your pay packet…
You need a dog to go dogging with maybe? I hear that is a popular sport in laybys?
I would imagine that 9 out of 10 “Losing interest” is down to getting to see the “According to Eddie Stobart Rates of Pay” rather than putting your non-existant earnings into the best savings account…
