Chances of working for stobart

OK have just added a poll to see who applied and who did not
just wanted to see if they came back to you or not

Hi
got the local paper and found stobarts advertising for drivers
phoned them up and told to apply online but there is no online vacency for the depot in question
Is that how they usually do things online?

Is it easy to get a job with them
do they have a high turn over of staff
Do they treat the very people that keep them afloat like ■■■■ (ie supermarkets)

Had my cat c for over 4 years but only pass my C+E 2 months ago

I predict 3 pages plus.

Anybody else fancy a punt?

If they’ve told you to do it online then do it online. Whats someone here gonna say…no Stobarts don’t do it online when they told you to do it that way?

Boss & Driver:

I’d imagine its hard to get a job with them if they tell you to apply on line and you can;t do it. The link to apply to work for them is here however…

No idea. Someone else may be able to help you.

I found them ok when i worked there, i’d imagine just like anywhere else every depot is different as is every driver.

Good luck.

Get the on line application filled in, you never know what will turn up.
My mate’s lad had only passed his class 1 six months ago and he has just been set on last week, so it looks like the usual two years experience doesn’t matter to them. :stuck_out_tongue:

A reasonable grasp of English should get you the gig.

is it easy to get a job with them-no idea to be honest of late, not so long ago they had pilesand piles of applications[i saw them with my own eyes],so youd think with all those applications it wouldnt be easy to get a job,but out of all those applications how many really wanted a job,how many would take the actual job when they found out t=c,s,if could be out of 10 applicants only one would end up intrested,id say though with the fact there advertising that those piles wouldnt now exist ,so id guess youd stand a fair chance
do they have a high turnover of staff-only in the sense that they seem to sack two poles a week for nicking diesel,i cant remember this happening 1/2 years ago but i guess even the poles are feeling the pinch[n.b know of local lad+agency whove got the boot for it as well],as for leaving, its the odd one of late who actually leaves for another job or whatever.
how do they treat there employees-two sides to this i.m.o.h.o,if youre going from the angle of redundancies, layoffs, pay cuts etc id guess youd say not very good[but i know of plenty of other firms who dont get a mention on here who are doing the same at the moment],but it still isnt good, pay cut to save jobs,no work, next minute taking on.
but if your looking on a individual basis[just my depot],id have to say very good,i dont get any hassle whatso ever,im just left to get on with job,in a fifteen hour shift yesterday i spoke to office once for a reference number, there always polite, please thankyou,in nigh on 5 years ive never had a disaplinary, note on file nothing,if you just turn up,get paper work,go out do the job, come back go home youll not here a peep,if your going to zb about, turn every job into a drama, moan about everything ive no doubt theyll be on your back, loads of ■■■■.
example-driver is 5 mins from yard[loads of driving/work time left],he pulls off main a road and diverts down side road and parks in layby, office rings and ■■■■ hits fan,hes dragged up office when he gets back, bollocking etc, etc, there take is were waiting for stock, hes no reason to stop,he should of just drove 5 mins straight back to yard,he didnt,no good reason for it,so ■■■ kick.
his point of view-im driving the truck, ill decide as and when i stop, for how long, the jobs ■■■■,there on my back for nothing, and giving me a warning is just typical of there attitude to there workforce.
the simple answer to all your questions is TRY IT,dont listen to joe bloggs, his mate,me ,just find out for yourself,if you like it stick it,if not look for something else

I’ve heard if you want to be a stobart driver, you must have a dog :open_mouth:

And a fondness for fresh air

From reading the posts about Stobarts then you’re either going to love it or hate it. Either way, if you get on then use them to get experience on c+e.

Typical drivver then. The job is easy enough without having to park up to kill time.

Why on earth would people go to the troble of filling an application form out and applying if they did not want the job in the first place?

Are you a SMOKER?
should i put no even though the answer is yes

Then it say
Please summarise briefly why you would like to become part of the Stobart Group Team:
Any tips and hints what I should put

I want to wave at the midget and transexual spotters in there camper van and make a creamy mess on Fiona should do the trick.

why would anyone need to fill out an application form? they either need a driver or they don’t. simple.

Lie and put that you love the uniform

Put “No”. If you put “Yes” my bet is that your application will go straight into the bin.

ive rang up for loads of jobs of late, most of the bigger firms arnt keen on talking about t+c,s over the phone, they like you to fill in application forms/send in c.v then if you get a interview theyll then discuss t+c,s at the interview,i.m.o.h.o a waste of there time and yours as alot of them soon as they mention wages/hourly rates you think i just want to be out of here, but unless your prepared to apply for the job in the way they require you simply wont get a interview.
ive never applied for a job with stobarts but id guess there the same, they want you to apply in a set procedure,if you dont you simply wont get a interview.
there is also the case in some instances that its best to go for interview and listen to the facts from the horses mouth,if you asked 10 stobart drivers there views on the job/pay/conditions youd get 10 different answers id guess, best sometimes to listen to it from h/m not driver 1 whos only ever had bad experiances/or driver five who thinks its the best job in the world.

NO it wont, why should it,all they require you to do is not smoke in the cabs, ive mates whove applied[i belled my mate up to ask this] and theyve put down YES to smoking, they got jobs,my mate said after his drive round with driver trainer he had a ■■■ outside gate with him :exclamation: :exclamation: ,granted harry theres things you wouldnt want to admit to on application form, but smoking,if i did id not have second thoughts about putting it down.theres also the case harry that the piles of application seemed to have disapeared,so now there having to advertise, bums on seats are all there concerned about,id guess they rather have a smoker in the cab at £7.00 p.h,than a none smoking agency bod at £12 p.h :exclamation: :exclamation:
