What a lovely waist of money and would love to hear the reason behind it.

A waste of a private company’s money.
If there was a fault caused during its construction then the contractor will have to put it right and it will be within their guarantee period.

Why is concrete better than the old metal centre? Surley it’s easier to replace a section of flattened metal than it is to fetch all the equipment out to replace sections of concrete

Concrete barrier won’t need repairing after most accidents, it is designed to withstand impacts from cars and remain intact. It also has a longer design life than steel barriers, something like 40 years instead of 25.

But more importantly, it drastically reduces the chances of crossover accidents, so will save lives.

You would like to think so but most Highway Authorities /Highway agencies have a penchant for partnership contracts where the pain is shared so to speak another example of how public money is wasted on our behalf.

A private company , “under contract” to the government, in the end still a gross waste of “public” money.!!
There are, I hope, penalty clauses, but what about the extra delays and further congestion now on a section of motorway reapirs that was practically finished ?

Those concrete barriers are a big joke. Almost 4 years of roadworks on the 25, and within 3 days of the grand opening, 2 lorries crossed over in the same accident

The contract will be to construct it to specification. If the construction contractor hasn’t done that correctly and has to carry out remedial work it will be at their own expense and at no additional cost to the taxpayer.

It does though depend where the fault lies, if it was a design issue rather than a fault with construction the work may have to be paid for then claimed back from whoever was responsible for the design (assuming it wasn’t in-house).

But the bunch of idiots that England voted into government are about one step away from privatising the trunk road network, it probably won’t be long until the government is just paying “Highways England plc” for each vehicle that uses the motorway network in England and its private owners will be paying for the maintenance.

Hmmmm , you wouldn’t be an SNP supporter by any chance.   The replacement of central barriers has nothing to do with who is in power in Westminster
(notice that I have highlighted it in blue)

In response to your last statement, have you ever or lately been abroad and noticed the state of road conditions over there.

No, just a Tory hater.
Just you wait, it won’t be long before this government sells off the motorways, just as they did before with railways, water supplies etc.

You mean the ones you have to pay to drive on? Fortunately the previous Lib-dem/Labour and SNP governments made all roads in Scotland free at the point of use.
