Hmmmm , you wouldn’t be an SNP supporter by any chance.
The replacement of central barriers has nothing to do with who is in power in Westminster
No, just a Tory hater.
Just you wait, it won’t be long before this government sells off the motorways, just as they did before with railways, water supplies etc.
In response to your last statement, have you ever or lately been abroad and noticed the state of road conditions over there.
You mean the ones you have to pay to drive on? Fortunately the previous Lib-dem/Labour and SNP governments made all roads in Scotland free at the point of use.
Firstly that’s not quite true is it. How much is the Forth Road bridge now ■■
Yes I agree that you have to pay on Autoroutes, vias, bahns etc. but the services are spotless and plentiful, there are plenty of rest areas, the road conditions are practically all perfect. But, if you wish, you can take one of the superb government, regional or locally funded “National” (A) roads.

The same as the other three previously tolled bridges: free.
I know a guy involved with laying out all the temporary steel barriers for motorway works and he’s been working on the section at Woodall. He told me the road workers were dumping litter in the concrete mix as the barrier was being laid and if you look closely you can see crisp and chocolate wrappers and also banana skins and orange peel sticking out the concrete which is why they’re redoing it all. Hey, don’t shoot the messenger!
Matt.

And who’s paying for that?
I’ll give you a clue it starts with E and ends with nglish.
Just like the ■■■■■■■ tuition fees. Is Scotland’s “so great” then why don’t you shut up and go back there?

Er I’m gonna hazard a guess that he IS there! Marvellous stuff this technology, let’s them heathens contact us from there peat dwellings Inbetween raiding neighbouring clans.
i would take a guess that the conc has,nt reached its designed strength within the time period… would have thought it would have been slumped and samples taken for crushing at time of laying, we uses to do i think 8 day 15 day and 28 day crush tests…

That’ll be due to the Barnett formula.
Which means that each person in Scotland gets an average of £1600 of tax money in services each every year.
Quite why we should listen to 1.4 million Scots on what happens in England where 10 times that many people didn’t vote for the SNP is beyond me.
Another example of the minority tail trying to wag the dog.
Luckily for you the Tories you hate so much are saving you from yourselves by not giving you fiscal independence which would leave a £7 billion black hole in your finances.
You’d really see what Austerity was then.
So hate the Tories by all means but I’d be grateful they don’t give you what most English would let you have.
Rung my mate this afternoon who is a site manager for Lafarge Tarmac.
They supplied the concrete for the barriers, but it turned out it was contaminated and that is why they are pulling it down. It is also the subject of an insurance claim, and he knew about it last November, but they have been sorting it out. He reckons it will delay the end of the roadworks for months.
Nice…
Ken.
Lafarge Tarmac (cement deliveries). I have been offered an interview for HGV 1 bulk work (with occasional bagged deliveries) at their depot in Cornwall. Does anyone know what the job is like, are they good employers and what the wages are like please?? (I have been offered other work.) ‘You wait for a bus and 2 turn up at once■■?’ Thanks

heard the exact same ken, dont know if it is true but i heard it could add an extra 6 months too the roadworks.
I’m only 25 years old, but I’m beginning to wonder at what age I’ll be able to use the M1 without having any 50mph average speed sections.
I reckon I’ll hit retirement before its finished!

everyone’s paying for it through taxation + some money from Europe as well so it’s just not the english but the welsh, the northern irish and the scots are all chipping in paying for it. hth
