If there’s any accidents or hold-ups tune to 19 - that’s where everyone reports them. 19 is officially the calling channel and once you’ve found your mate or whatever you’re meant to go to another frequency to continue the chat but you’ll find this rarely happens and everyone chats on 19. Keep the squelch at about 75% to shut up all the background noise.
If you see any hold-ups, Ministry, cops, mobile speed cameras it’s generally the done thing to key up on 19 to let any other truckers know. I’ve avoided many a coming to by having my CB on in the wagon.
shouldn’t be speeding anyway
Okay, no worries, I won’t bother letting you know that there’s a mobile speed trap up ahead then when you’re coming the other way. No skin off my nose!
It’s worth steering clear of channel 10 and channel 8 in case your rig bleeds onto 9. And yes, some people have handles, and the ten-code still works - sometimes.
post office run on 24
night trunkers on the m6 on either 35 or 16
littlewoods drivers run on 1
and that [zb] around birmingham calls you a scab in the cab on channel 19 all [zb] day long.

And as opposed to a mobile phone it is perfectly legal to use a cb whilst driving .
You sure? I was always told it counted as a “hand held microphone” and as such was not allowed. See Highway Code section 127 (http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/12.shtml) which references the 1998 Road Traffic Act.
I second that Jonboy, that idiot round Brum calls himself ‘toyboy’ he generally sleeps around midday but is on at ALL other times, scab in a cab is his favourite saying, however just tell him something that the Walsaw boys are saying about him sit back and have a laugh as he explodes heard a geordie truck driver do this the other nite and ‘toyboy’ (please ) exploded but it helped pass some time whilst sitting in traffic especially when everyone started on him.
The other area to avoid is Milton Keynes, some woman plays music all the time and often sings along too, it was ok years ago with truckers on 19 and home bases on 14, but now i like so many, generally only switch it on if i come up against traffic etc. which is a shame because i used to enjoy having a chat with others and having a laugh, there was one bloke in particular called himself ‘powder puff’ anyone remember him, he was natorious up and down the M1 and what a laugh, a joke a minute he would come out with, ah those were the days, now it’s mostly abuse.

If I recall correctly CB’s are OK to use as the mic is a push to talk and therefore is legal.
Channel 30 is normally used by the guys performing the roadworks, planing and sweeping at least.
wasnt it posted on here a while ago the god bothers are going to start doing sermons via cb?
that should be a laugh a minute
stage truck run on channel 5 when they are in pairs or in convoy.
most of the shovel drivers in the quarys have got them as well, makes life much easyier when tiddling down no getting wet!!

Drive Safe.
Well, when ya think about it, the Emergency services still use push-button radios, so if they were illegal, they wouldnt be able to use them either…
On this subject, when I used to use a Rig in the car years ago, there were the normal 40 channels, btu then you could get your rig sorted to have ‘Highs’ or ‘Mids’. Am I right in saying that these are now legal??..
highs are iligal as they are am frequncey, mids is the european fm frequncey so legal to use in the uk, also a lot quiter down there so if you want to chat it is better too go down on the mids and not get the muppets trashing you all the time
chris
stoke is another area to turn the rig off, there`s a homebaser around there who never bloody shuts up. anyone remember “chocks away charlie”? called everyone chum… must get my rig put in the new motor!
I love my cb. there are some eejits about but it is brilliant for finding out stuff. i was sat in a traffic jam in oxford the other day and thought i would have a quick look at the map when lo and behold a voice from the dark came and said you lost mate? Think i know where i am going says i, am looking for a farm near burford. and hey presto superstar man gave me directions to the blooming door. Would never be without it.
