Good morning.
I was reading my notes as I entered an industrial estate and noticed as speed camera van.
Can anyone please tell me the outcome might be regarding points etc?
Is the camera automatic in which case as I was doing below 30 it.might be ok or manually operated if so I may not?
Thank you so much.
Thank you
Is there any reason we should doubt you ?
Regards. John.
Sorry worded wrong
What sentence/points is likely?
Thank you
Driving without due care and attention-CD10
If guilty of a CD10 driving offence, your license will be endorsed with 3-9 Penalty Points and you will receive a fine of anything up to £5,000 (such fines are means tested, and rarely over £1,000).
You’ll likely go to jail.
the nodding donkey:
You’ll likely go to jail.
Your a prat, but that was funny
How do you know you were filmed “reading” whilst driving?
Personally I’d just wait it out n see if you gets a letter.
There are too many variations on potential scenarios/outcomes to list, just hope the device in the van was just measuring speed and the person operating the device didn’t see you actually reading, if you were under the speed limit shouldn’t stress too much chances are you may not have been caught reading.
Good luck.
The fact that drivers are worrying about looking at a piece of paper to check unit number/ name on delivery sheet just goes to show how things have descended to new depths in this country.

I disagree - although I, like most drivers, have done it many times. While you are looking down trying to read the delivery note you could squish untold numbers of fluffy kittens.
My understanding is…unlike using a mobile phone, reading an address is not a specific offence, any more than reading you speedometer is.
You could be done for ‘due care’ if, for example, you’d hit a kerb, in which case the fact you’d been seen looking at a piece of paper might be presented as part of the evidence against you, but as an offence on its own I doubt it would come to court, and if it did a good lawyer could get it dismissed in no time.
It’s not as though you were driving down a motorway at 56 mph in the dark, with the cab interior lights full on and a newspaper unfolded on the steering-wheel like a tanker driver that I once saw!
If any action is to be taken against you its upto 3 months for company vehicle or upto 2 weeks for your own vehicle
but because its all tied in and digital you will get a N.I.P. well before that . its nothing to do with safety but all to do with revenue
in my opinion you will not recive anything
REALLY FFS!!!
what is wrong with these drivers nowadays ■■?
What happened to the days of battling thru central London with you’re old dog-eared A-Z on ya lap, smoking a ■■■ and shouting “oi oi” to the office bint on the path■■?

Nothing will happen as you were under 30. It was a speed camera van and was purely for that purpose. Nothing to worry about unless it was a delivery note detector van…

The speed camera vans , do have "not wearing seatbelt detectors "
So could well have “reading delivery note detector”

REALLY you obviously have no idea what disasters can happen and have happened by taking your eyes off the road for even that short period.
This is partly why all vehicles will become autonomous because drivers cannot act responsibly.
How long does it take to stop and look? Thought so, in too much of a hurry.

Your understanding is wrong.
So where is the specific offence for reading a delivery note on the statute book?
Here is the specific offence for mobile phone use:
"The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No 4) Regulations 2003 came into force on 1 December 2003. They amend the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, by inserting Regulation 110 into the constructions and use regulations.
Regulation 110 (1) and (2) prohibits a person from driving, or causing or permitting a person to drive, a motor vehicle on a road if the driver is using a held-hand mobile telephone or a hand-held device. Regulation 110 (3) prohibits a person from using a hand-held mobile telephone or hand-held device while supervising a holder of a provisional license ( learner driver) whilst the learner is driving.
Regulation 110 (5) provides that the regulation is not breached where a person makes a call to the emergency services on 999 or 112 in response to a genuine emergency, where it is unsafe or impracticable for him (or the provisional licence holder) to cease driving whilst the call is made.
It is an offence under section 41 D(b) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 to contravene Regulation 110. The penalty imposed will depend upon the type of vehicle driven."
How is glancing at a delivery note different from glancing at the instrument panel to check vehicle speed or performing the ‘mirror’ part of ‘mirror, signal, manoeuvre’ or looking at a sat nav screen?

Sometimes, it’s more dangerous to stop. Sometimes, it’s illegal to stop.
