Category C - Training Diary

Thanks fellas, off to catch some Zs now and hope for the best tomorrow. Will need a lot to go my way.

GOOD LUCK SAM, just try not to let the nerves get you, and you’ll be fine

Ok so unfortunately I failed guys. - It’s not all doom and gloom though because it wasn’t entirely my fault. I had a perfect reverse, answered all show m/t/me questions perfectly too and the drive was perfect, of course until the snow started to fall. This meant that the snow covered a line that was important i never crossed, and of course being unable to see it my wheel crossed it and i caused a car to brake just slightly because of it, it was marked as a serious.

My instructor went to speak to the examiner afterwards to see if there was anything he could do for me but of course their wasn’t and now I have a test report that has a fail on it. I’m not entirely bothered about it to be fair because I know there was nothing I could of done and I know it was a perfect drive, he said so himself. Just a little disappointment that I have to wait a little bit longer.

Sorry guys and girls.

Sorry to hear that Sam, here’s hoping you can get a re-test booked soon.

I passed my C test on my 3rd attempt, first fail came about when annother driver stitched me over on a round about and the 2nd fail was just a stupid mistake I made on the independant driving. Both tests had 3 or less minors and one serious. No stress though chap, better luck next time.

Doing the test in the snow though, :open_mouth: that can’t be great for the nerves.

bad luck sam , dont knock yourself out about it , you drove well just our usual scottish crappy weather spoiling it , when can you get retest ■■?

Sorry guys and girls.

You have nothing to apologise for Sam. You did your best and the examiner decided that it wasn’t good enough

You now have the advantage of knowing exactly what is involved in a test  so you will be even better next time, hope you get a re-test nice and soon (while everything is still “test fresh”).

Ratty

Pity the examiner didn’t terminate the test due to snow. That way you would have got a test fee credited and wouldn’t have to wait the 3 clear working days for another test.

If there is enough snow that you cant see road markings, test should be terminated.

But better luck next time, Pete

He did end it 15 minutes early (should be noted though, the serious was at the start of the test), still not soon enough though I guess.

Sorry to hear the news of the fail Sam. :frowning:

Keep your chin up mate and use it as good experience for the next one. You’ve already proved you can do it, so let’s hope it doesn’t snow on your next test and I’m sure you will then sail through it.

Oooops, shoulda read the post properly.

Commiserations.

better luck next time Sam, when are you likely to get a retest?

Commiserations.

Those fireworks etc look familiar

I will save them for your retest but at least you got some for passing mod 4

If that’s the case, the test was terminated and there should be no result recorded. That is assuming that the only reason was the weather. Write to the Cusomer Service Unit at DSA, Newcastle. There’s something not right.

You could get a test fee out of it.

Pete

So sorry sam I really thought u would have passed and if mother nature hadn’t done her worst I’m sure u would have hope u get that retest soon u will pass next time I’m sure
Chin up

Sorry you failed Sam, dont beat ya self up. Good luck for ya retest

Sam’s training is being funded.

Sorry to hear you failed Sam, I’m not going to give you a hard time, you know my feelings about you getting LGV funding whilst driving around in your '11 plate Astra with dash cam, your pilots licence, go-karting trips and your horses. Maybe there are people who need the funding more than you do, but I do empathise with you.

I failed my first C test and it really got me down. Don’t let it get to you though, by the sound of things you are a competent driver and I’m sure you will pass on your next attempt, and at least you haven’t got the money to worry about.

Remember: All the best people fail their first test.

SmashedCrabFace:

Not so, I didn’t.

Then you are clearly not one of the best people.

Well, I don’t subscribe to the theory that some people are “better” than others. Perhaps some people perform appallingly during their driving test but pass anyway because they come across as being personable and pleasant. I really don’t know, you would have to ask my examiner.

An account of my driving test- this has been posted before…

I had the most surreal HGV driving test anyone has ever had.

Halfway through the test, I had already had three major fails and about 25 minor fails.

As I slowly went round a blind left-hand bend in Margate in a 30mph area, a Ford Capri suddenly came flying towards me on my side of the road at around 60mph, being chased by a Police car.

I just stood on the brakes. Even 25 years later, and having driven a truck in around 30 different countries, I have never braked a truck as heavily again as I did on my driving test. I avoided a collision by the width of a Rizla paper.

I had the steering wheel to brace myself against, but Mr Mummery flew out of the seat- this was before seat belts- and there was the most almightly crash as his head hit the windscreen, after which he fell into the passenger footwell in a crumpled heap. I was amazed that the winscreen didn’t break.

When he scraped himself up and sat down, I looked at him, and his eyes were going round and round in circles.

Three times I asked him if he wanted me to take him to hospital. I said “Look, I don’t care about the test, I can do it again, but I think you should get that looked at”, referring to the enormous purple lump which had suddenly appeared on the front of his head.

But he insisted we should carry on. I think that when he gave me the pass certificate he was still concussed.

But hey, a pass is a pass is a pass!
