Changing the subject slightly - has anyone ever had any “false infringements” on analysis? I had one this last week which was proved incorrect by a card printout.
yes …
The woman using the software was using a generic start time… she was telling me that I had had not had enough rest when I had had 15 hrs off … the boss came in and showed her what a numpty she was being … sorted it and whoosh 15 infringement’s gone
That’s virtually the one I had albeit with a reduced rest. Cheers - never heard of it before
Should be an IQ test before some people take to the road. It’s hardly rocket science to understand the regulations is it.
For those that can’t understand simple maths and use a pen and notepad, go and flip burgers instead.
24 and 25, being the worst, may have been caused by leaving the mode on other work on a daily rest, not uncommon seen a lot of this happening on here by experienced drivers, if you had taken the time off, and its recorded 9 hrs O/W I would just do a print out explaining it, the others and the WTD I really wouldn’t worry about it.
Throw your card away order a new one and get some tacho training
Is this a print out of johnnytruckfests week with mcdowell
bazstan009:
Printing it sideways is a £50.00 fine straight off.
It’s level now
Sorry

I’m not taking the ■■■■. You asked for advice. You said you were done with driving. I genuinely believe that you are better suited to a career in the fast-food industry. I’m just trying to help. There’s not a lot out there for somebody of your calibre.
Camaron, ignore them all pretty much, apart from Tachograph. You just need to calm down and get yourself sorted. VOSA will take into account that you’re new if you’re pulled but don’t go rattling their cage unnecessarily.
As has been mentioned, and is a good tip for any newbie, keep a written diary record of what you are actually working in case you screw up the recording on the tachograph as it’s almost always possible to reverse engineer from that what button has been pushed wrong and when. You won’t be the first or last person to struggle to get their head round the rules (they are too complex and there are loads of drivers out there that only know them in the context of their own regular runs) and you certainly won’t be the first or last to put it on other work by mistake instead of rest.

He is not a newbie in the eyes of VOSA. He’s been driving vocationally (on tacho) for at least a year so there’s really no excuse to still have no clue with regards RT(WT)R and EU driver hours. All the information is there via web links in these forums so if he’s not prepared to educate himself in order to comply with the rules and regs of the job then he shouldn’t be doing it. Harsh words but that’s the simple reality of it.

He’s always like that.
Lose your card. Costly, but less costly than paying those potential fines.
I’d suggest losing it on a weekly basis
download a tacho simulator, this site should do.drivers-cpc.co.uk/?page=freetacho and practice practice practice.

Fair play to you matey, At least you have the nuts to admit it drivings not for every one, I couldn’t get all this WTD stuff couple of the old boys sat down with me and went thought it they don’t bite you just have to ask them
This job has gone from one extreme to the other, from wide spread abuse and flaunting of the rules to downright regulated pedantry, to the point where drivers are facing court for minutes.
Stronger enforcement of driving hours has quite rightly increased over the years that I have been in the job, but it is heading towards, if not already, a zero tolerance policy.
Targeting habitual offenders that do it for financial gain should be a priority, but as usual the easier targets are concentrated on, and with the DCPC now it has taken away the "Sorry mate I didn’t realise " defence.
Driving hours rules are aimed primarily at safety on the roads, but it becomes a paradox when drivers find themselves unintentionally at their last driving minute for example, due to unforseen circumstances, so then stress sets in and they find themselves speeding to find somewhere to park, knowing that every minute over will increase their fine, more stress more speed…a recipe for an accident, so the system is going against what it was designed to achieve.
Don’t anybody come on about print outs, I’m just making a point to illustrate how bloody stupid the job has become.
.A bit more leeway for drivers that have inadvertently committed a minor offence will never happen as long as VOSA or whatever the hell they call themselves now are self funding, but is it really worth all the hassle worrying your arse off over the weekend and getting stressed out over what could happen, does the job pay enough to justify it.
