Car transporter companys old and new

uscarhauler:
Was (is) it Hoyner or Hoynor? Can anyone identify the trailer I posted above.

Hoynor… my spelling was wrong, the one in your photo was I guess a MK1.

I’ve been spelling it Hoyner for some reason. Now I got to go back and change all my captions. Here’s another from my collection.

Evening all below is a picture of an old Albion I don’t know whose the original pic is by or where I got it from? This looks like a Wythal based lorry but not sure :unamused:my Dad would of drove one very similar to this but for BJ Henry out of the Cowley depot before autocars took them over this would of been early 70’s at a guess and was wondering if anyone has any photos of them? Would love to see em if anyone’s got some.
Thanks Andrew

A page or two back someone asked about star transport from Southampton I think? Again I don’t know who the original pics belong too so apologies if I’m in the wrong. The black f7 was originally a star truck & was also my first lorry after passing my test but then it was in Cannon’s of Milton colours then sold on & became black.Any pics of it would be most welcome
Thanks Andrew

This one is my pic lol taken in Lille,France couple of years ago still earning its keep although parked up for the night here

Was this the demise of Willi Betz transporters?

I was parked in Magdeburg and all these transporters drove in, in convoy. I estimated there were over 70 vehicles. It was Saturday afternoon, as the drivers parked up, a car stopped and took their keys, the drivers jumped on a large coach and eventually they all left the vehicles there. On Monday morning I went off to tip and clean out. I called back in the truckstop and there were a dozen minibuses and people carriers all on Russian plates, they were collecting the brand new Volvo FM with Rolfo Equipment. Some order for Volvo and Rolfo in the day.

I can only think the first drivers had driven these from the Volvo or Rolfo factory, then the collection drivers were collecting their new motors catering for the new Russian economy.

Definately a Wythall Albion with a Carter trailer, glad to see the back of them.

I’m new here, found you when looking for info on Hoyner and carrimores. I hauled cars here in the US for 15 years before retirement in 2014. My Flickr pages have thousands of car carrier photos. Here’s one that I think was British. Anybody kmow anything about it?
Scania 81 by ■■■■ Copello, on Flickr

Hi uscarhauler
I know you are interested in the transporter, but at the risk of telling you something you already know, or hasn’t already been answered:

  • On the top deck are Mini-Metro cars, although the second from front is a van version (no rear side windows)
  • On the lower deck the middle two are Mini(s), and the rear one of the two looks to have wheel arch extenders
  • All vehicles have indicator side repeaters and no head restraints/rests.
  • From the position of the windscreen wipers all vehicles look to left-hand drive, presumably for export, so maybe US bound?, or even Japan? (side repeaters and no headrests) austinminiwebsearch.com/mayfair86japan.html ?.
  • The day-cab Scania reg CPV484T was registered October 1978, but from the state of bodywork below the windscreen it might be near the end of its working life so picture maybe early ‘80s(?).
  • The last change of logbook/ownership for the Scania is recorded as 5th Feb 1986, but oddly the last annual test recorded on the government site is shown to have expired on 31st Oct 1979. I’m assuming that since then the records have been digitised and a lot of stuff was not added.
  • This link will give you an idea of the fate of the original Hoynor in 1969:

An innovative design!

An alternative to the massive long ramps you usually see for forklifts.

its about time us transporter drivers had a thread we can use to show our photos old and new,i’ve been on “cars” since 98,
coming off general haulage i started at WA GLENDINNINGS(like a lot of drivers in the north east)then, after about 2 years moved to PAUL HODGSON.about another 2 years went by when i started for WALON.which became AUTOLOGIC,where i’m still employed…(apart from the 5months i worked for autocar logistics, when i was tupe’d over.but the less said about them the better)…so here’s a few pictures to get the thread started.

Hi Glenny good idea will have to get myself sorted, got plenty of photos somewhere.
