Car pulls out in front of me then chased by traffic police

Pat Hasler:
Hmmm Saratoga ■■? how did you get that name ? I live just up the road from there.

We’ve covered this before Pat  Nick used in a gaming forum a long time ago and stuck with it

Pat Hasler:
I wish the police in this part of the world were as observant and pro truck driver. Idiots here will pull out right in front of a truck but not in front of a car even though a fully laiden truck can flatten them and if you loose your temper and sound the horn or shout protest it merely attracts the attention of the police who them pull the trucker.
As it happens most Americans have no idea how to negotiate a roundabout anyway

It was filmed from my car mate hence the height

good quality video that sammy… where did you buy the camera from and how much ?

sam, what camera is that, the quality is really good

The camera is from comet mounted on a fat gecko camera mount (so sturdy i can swing my weight from it) - it cost £200 and it’s a Full HD 1080p camera. The video is actually stretched slightly due to the way I rendered it before uploading so please note that it’s not actually like that. Here’s another video I did using proper rendering settings recorded with the same camera and mount. Make sure set the quality to 1080p on the YouTube vid if your internet can handle it.

Picture of the set up:

hmm i could use something like that for when im at the track. where abouts you get the camera from?

Why on earth would you want that big clunky thing in your window?! You can get teeny ones for less and all you use is an SD card

I picked a normal full size camcorder (i say full size, it looks clunky but it’s actually tiny-infact i think it’s the smallest full video camera on the market)- I picked a normal full size camcorder over a portable one ie GoPro or something due to video and audio quality. I am a bit OCD so all of that was important to me, what you do sacrifice with a normal recorder like this is battery and of course space, but space is easily fixed with a bigger SD card.

I bought it also to help my insurance and in the hope that it may actually help me when it comes to getting a job as a lorry driver being 18 and all. So far, it’s purchase has proved priceless, invaluable.

I was based in Norfolk, Virginia for 2 and a half years. There was one roundabout on an estate where another of the Brits lived.

One day he was hit by a car going the wrong way round the roundabout. When the American was questioned about it, his reply was “I always go that way round”. :open_mouth:

Sam i know that roundabout very well its in irvine near the retail park. The guy was in the wrong lane for a start the left hand lane goes left into the retail park and the right lane goes straight ahead and to the right.

Yes that’s right mate, just over the Bailey brig.

Very good video but the camera positioned at the rear and offside is not practical as it can’t see traffic from the left.

You also touched on a solid white line which is an offence…self incriminating that is.

What solid line?

I think sam only has the one camera he just stuck it on the offside so he could show us a better picture of what the camera looks like.

Watch the video again his fron wheels cross the line - about half way I think

Do you mean at the start of the video? :open_mouth:

yes - there’s only one camera and it’s only position on the rear offside for demonstration purposes.

I wish I had money to burn like you Millar. I can’t afford fancy video recording equipment because I spent all my money on LGV training.

Midday through the video in killie town centre going round the bend downhill towards train station you drop a wheel into a solid white line. I wouldn’t worry about there is no a polis in the land would pull you up for it but dri-diddly-iver obviously would.
