Referral code - UP386JS2Q
Mods- I have no connection at all to Cuvva, I just thought it good for people to know about as people regularly post about car insurance so I hope this post is OK.
For total transparency. Do you receive a fee if people use this code? And do you get a discount/fee for promoting this service?
I’ve looked on their website and it doesn’t say anything about referral codes for members of the public.
However, there is one huge problem with this… It’s app based. So if your phone breaks or is lost you can’t actually insure yourself to drive. Furthermore - it’s a faff. You have to log into an app to drive your car.
Sorry for the negativity - but really seems like a rubbish idea.
Yes he gets £10 for everyone who uses his referral code.
Actually the code only works once as it happens
This would have been perfect for me when I was doing 2 weeks away and my car was parked in the yard for all that time. It would be no good for me now as my car is used every day.
You wouldn’t get a payday loan to finance a new car due to the interest costs, same as this insurance, you wouldn’t use it for everday use due to the cost, they both have their uses but not for everyday life.
With the shed loads of money trampers recon they earn, the minuscule amount to insure your car continually with a conventional policy for the year is probably insignificant.
OK… So what happens if you insure your car for the day, drive to work, then you head off into the wide world in the truck for a week or two, all good up to this point.
But while your away some twunt damages or nicks your car, oh dear at this point your car isn’t insured, you can’t trace the culprit, and your employer will have indemnified themselves by saying any vehicle left onsite is left at the owners risk.
I guess these 1+ day policies do have a downside
Luke, i’m not knocking it, it sounds like a great idea. But how does it comply with vehicles needing to be either insured or sorn ? AFAIK you can’t dip in and out of insurance ? Well you can, but when its not insured you have to SORN it . I’m not convinced that its fully compliant with the law/ legal however you wanna phrase it. There’s another problem i forsee, if they aint quick updating you on the database you could be technically insured, well… really insured but it might not show as you’ve only just renewed it yesterday for example. And the Police have been known to impound and then ask questions later ?
Ignore me… you already covered it… “Basic cover”, put me gigs back on.

According to their website…
“The underlying subscription provides fully comprehensive insurance on the car whilst it’s parked and unattended. The car is fully covered against any accidental damaged (sic), fire, theft and vandalism”.
One other potential problem…
“We can insure cars that are 15 years old or less and are valued between £5,000 – £75,000”.

I think you raise a point as is the “basic cover” just for at home or any location that you leave it? When parked at work I do wonder if an insurance company might say it is “in use” and should have been insured at the time.
Not saying there’s anything wrong with it but its only when things go wrong you find out how good things are

Sorry you posted that as I did. Does it say where it needs to be parked though? Can see that being s grey area
Sounds ideal if you change cars regularly and borrow pals cars .Seems like a good policy .Obviously not everyone will find it useful though .
Harry I think you may have missed my point, Luke suggested that you can take out 1 days Insurance to enable you to drive from home to your place of work, then on day 2 onwards while your away from base in the truck and the car is stood, there is no insurance valid on the car. It’s only when your return to base do you buy another 1 days insurance to enable you to drive home. Should something happen to the car during that time your stuffed
If you already have good ncb the paltry price for cover for the average work mobile makes short term cover like this a very expensive way to insure. Further, insure your car yearly and youre done and dusted, no need to continuously update, its just yet something else to remember having to do…

I think that is the standing charge that Luke mentioned in his first post.
My concern is that once you have driven to work the car is “in use” and I do wonder if that is covered by the basic cover
Mornin all
As an aside, how long is it before ones no claims bonus expires?

Check but mine kept my ncb valid for 2 years - I think that’s the case for all insurance companies but, as I say, check

It is insured while parked, that’s what my £11 a month is for, comprehensive insurance while parked up

It is continually insured, that’s what the £11 a month buys, comprehensive insurance while parked. It is fully compliant, there were delays releasing this products as they have to work out how to comply with legislation. They update the database daily and police are aware of this product

Can it be parked anywhere or just at home?
My view is that if it is parked at work on Tuesday and something happens to it after you insure and drive to work Monday that they might refuse as it was “in use” and should have been insured for that day

The scenario I was referring to is the 1 day policy.
On a standard policy (FC, PNC with all the extras) I’m probably only paying the equivalent of £12-£15 per month (paid annually)

Completely different product, you can’t use the temporary insurance on an uninsured car, it’s primary purpose is to allow you to easily borrow someone’s car
