Also they stated you don’t have to a full time driver, part time is OK.
The guy I spoke to said you have to drive a PCV/LGV a minimum of 3 days a week to qualify for the scheme

I said I only drive on average two days per week, (but haven’t driven a truck since last September). And can’t see me doing it again in the near future either, ■■■■ it!! So will just have to carry on drivin a ship I suppose.
Ray you should do picture diary onboard in Bullies bar.

That was suggested before but Toby1234abcde,adinfinitum said ‘FFS what has that to do with trucking’ so I bowed to his opinion, but have since read his posts … So I might well do !
Is that OK Tobes?

OK, here goes …
I registered with Adelaide yesterday, and they rang me this afternoon.
As I haven’t run a car for the last couple of years, they recommended that I go with my previous insurer (Tesco) to get my no claims bonus back, then they’d call me next year and beat whatever I was paying.
Direct Line for me…£225 fully comp for an 11 plate Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.2 td
Slightly off topic - I checked today few sites, as usual started from one of these comparision websites.
On gocompare lowest quote was Admiral with 904 pounds. On Tescocompare lowest quote was Admiral with… 590. Directly on Admiral website they quoted me 540 Says something about how reliable these comparision websites are…
More slightly off topic stuff:
Do you have to declare any accidents/scrapes you’ve had at work?
Rather strangely, confused.com always list Admiral as one of the insurers who decline to quote for me, even though confused.com is owned by Admiral.

I wasn’t asked about any.

Yeah, but that sounds like just the sort of thing they’d use to worm out of paying up if you had a bump in your car.
I switch insurers almost every single year, they rip the pish out of my renewal quotes. Customer retention must not be a big priority
Just a quick question for anyone insured with Adelaide.
I insured with them, got my quote from Admiral (£520) down to £280, and I’m well pleased with that, and with the service in general.
However, I’ve only ever received documents by email, nothing by post. I’m not sure how an emailed insurance certificate would go down with the Police if I went abroad. I have checked on the MIDB and I am insured, but have other folk received hard copies of the paperwork?

Same here, altough it’s worth to call them and tell “I have quote from other place, its X, can you beat that?” Once they dropped price by almost 400 to keep me with them (Churchill)…
Got my renewal notice from my current insurer (Aviva). Its went up a bit from last year to £659 Fully comp for my Vectra Cdti Sri 150. I’m 31 yrs old with 9yrs no claims and no points on my licence. Phoned Adelaide today for a quote and was pleasantly surprised with them. £440 fully comp with NCD protection and legal expenses.

Email only here, but if I was going abroad, I’d request hard copies and a green card thingy too.
But I think the emailed docets are watermarked? I’ve used emailed cover notes over here in the past when I’ve not been on the database.

Where do you live? Scotland yard?
I can’t get that low on my much older modeo, and DL decided to double my premium, so after an interlude being BSitted by Kwikfit, I ended up with tesco as well. Could only manage £335 which is still higher than last year’s.
Well, the guys are very friendly and customer service is sound, but despide they were trying hard they did not managed to find any good deal for me - the best they can do is over 500 more than Admiral…
They said it’s because of me not working full time as a HGV driver.
So it did not worked for me, but I would definitely recomend them to try - it cost nothing.
