i wouldnt touch adelaide , too many clauses
and they are bloody nosey ,
they want to know where you work and your gaffas name
believe me
get a quote from adelaide
then get a quote from aviva or axa
see whos cheapest then

Nope, didn’t get asked any of those, but will be on guard for that, thanks.

Cheaper than AXA by a good margin, Norwich Union i wouldn’t touch with your barge pole, badly treated a long time ago, haven’t forgot and won’t.

That’s not my experience with them either, standard questions, I looked around for other quotes, gave them the details, they check it put and beat the lower quote.

I asked about various clauses that you get in some of the cheaper policies, such as driving other people cas and they were all covered in thier policy.

Got a renewal this year, this is where most go insurance companies load it up hoping you can’t be bothered to look around, but again shopped around and still couldn’t get a better quote.

I keep getting calls from adelaide. Great I thought until I told them that although I hold a pcv, hgv and emergency service advanced driving qualification im actually not employed in road transport anymore but rail they couldnt get off the phone quick enough. They wont insure you unless you’re employed in a pcv, hgv capacity which is why they want to know your bosses name etc so they can clarify you are employed as a driver.
Having a vxr vectra is not the best for insurance anyway lol

think this post code thing is a nonsense corsa 1.2 in sk15 postcode £627 insure it at my fiancees parents with a DD10 postcode £204 everything the same so why the massive difference could insure that car for a year in Arbroath for the cost of the deposit in stalybridge

They recognise the IAM so if a current member you can go to their Surety section

If not a member then certain AD quals mean you do no have to take the IAM test to be a member

Might be worth joining and then getting cheaper insurance :bulb:

Ok il have to look into that. Cheers

Adelaide this year for me for the first time, thanks to this forum, saved me a lot of money.

Group 18 (in the old groups max of 20) car, fully comp, protected, legal, £196, that’ll do.

I’ll have to look into that myself then. I thought I was doing well on £263 for a mere group 14… :open_mouth:

The I.A.M. route does give good value for money.I had a taxi many years ago ,being a member brought down my insurance quotes from about £2000.to £800.Its a risky business taking little brats to school. On a lighter note there are a few librarians that I would not mind entering.

you need to be careful with that , nephew of mine insured his car using his own (parents) address, then a while later got a job and moved in with his girlfriend in middlesborough . he got stopped and produced his documents while driving home from work , copper asked him to confirm his address (as per docs) and when he gave the m.boro address he got done for no insurance and had his car impounded . he hadn’t informed ins co. of change of details :frowning:
