Why do Lgv drivers pay more to insure their car?
If you enter a librarian on a search engine, the quote price is lower.
Enter Lgv driver the price goes up.
Do they think we will crash the car after a ten hour drive in the truck and a 15 hour day.?
You don’t with Adelaide

That is a very forward thinking insurer and it started by giving reduced premiums to advanced drivers then soon realised that LGV and PCV drivers also drove in general to the same principals with similar driving skills - at least that is how I saw it happening over the last few years
I think Toby has answerd his own question (unless he was taking the Micky) , driving home after a 15hour shift and 10hour drive is probably the main reason? Not many librarians do them sort of shifts lol.
Adelaide this year for me for the first time, thanks to this forum, saved me a lot of money.
Group 18 (in the old groups max of 20) car, fully comp, protected, legal, £196, that’ll do.
You still need to shop around. I insured with Adelaide but when renewal came up their quote, including their fee and IAM membership, was £180 compared with SAGA at £93.

It goes to show how our perceptions of value have changed when we consider £196 to be a “good” price for insurance!
I’m not naive enough to believe there aren’t plenty of fraudulent twonks out there who push up the premiums for the rest of us, but Jesus nearly 200 quid for the pleasure of driving!
I’ve been insured for 33 years now and have never made a claim, so how much dead money have I spent over the years? I realise that that is a perhaps simplistic view of things but I can’t help feeling we’re being royally shafted once more.
I actually do think £196 is a good price, but that only shows that I too have been brainwashed.
£93 ■■ How old are you and what do you drive ■■
I was pleased when I got mine for £330
I did shop around & made no difference to what “job” I put into search engine it came back the same
Adelaide did give me a good deal which I was happy with
Saga /Rias are not alway the cheapest or best for over 50’s they were a lot more for me

That dont sound to bad tbh
It amazes me how the ‘young’ driver gets ripped off.
I live in a fairly decent area, not a lot of crime, drive a standard family car that is 12 years old (Mondeo), no convictions/endorsements, 1 none fault accident from 4 years ago, married with 2 kids and 27 years old. Last year’s cheapest price I could find was £545 with 9 years ncb.
Yet my grandfather who sometimes doesn’t know what day of the week it is, lives in inner city Nottingham, fairly high crime rate, drives a 62 plate 2lt (can’t remember what maybe a Citroën) has decent but not full ncb after a bump and he pays less than £150.
Imo old people are some of the most dangerous people on the roads.

62 and a Sierra 2.0l GT. My Mondeo 2.0 TDCi is £157. Both fully comp with protected NCD.
Change your insurers every year unless they quote the best price, there is no such thing as loyalty anymore.

Where do you live lol, I turned 24 in sept move to ryehill (hull) drive a 59 reg VW jetta 2.0 tdi and I pay £43 a month fully comp , 4/5 year NCB and 3points , that’s with Adelaide
I’ve just re-insured with Adelaide, the renewal was cheaper than anything on compare websites, not quite old enough for Saga, and the price didn’t change when I’d told them I’d got 3 points this year.
Try telling your insurance company you’re a car mechanic, my brother has had some shocking quotes to the point where it wasn’t worth him being on the family car insurance.
And according to the mechanics at work if you say you work in Motorsport then it gets really silly, being a truck driver working in Motorsport doesn’t seem to make any difference to my premiums.
