Lincolnshire mate, out in the sticks, it can’t be postcode thing because I moved from Nottingham and it went down by £100+. It just ■■■■■■ me off these parasites have got you backed into a corner.
I’ve never driven without insurance, I can see why some do though, when my pops pays so little, it’s like the ‘youngsters’ (I don’t class myself as young) are subsidising it for everyone else.
Me and the missus were all giddy when we both turned 25, thinking it would go down to about £300, then the ■■■■■ put insurance costs up across the board by 30% and it ended up costing us £10 more a year more at renewal time and we had an extra years ncb.
This country is a joke.
Rip off Britain.
To be fair I never tried Adalaide insurance, but did use all the comparison sites.

Mine has been lower every year since I started driving , it went down about £70 or something when I moved from Middlesbrough to hull , well it’s more the countryside than hull, but I agree it’s ridiculous I was paying £150 a month when I first started driving on a T reg 1.2 punto

There are many parasites that are pushing your insurance up and it’s not just insurance companies,
There are the no win no fee legal companies and those people who claim they have whiplash or a load of other financial losses, even though they’ve just had a tap at walking pace.
The fact that a simple repair to a modern car comes in at £thousands, especially if you add a hire car on top of that. And it was on the news a few months ago that the prices charged were far higher than they should be because it went through insurance.
Those people who drive without insurance, which means if they hit you it either cost you or your insurance company.

My point is, insurance is supposedly based on risk how can I be 4x the risk of having an claim compared to my grandfather?
I may be 27 (which imo isn’t young) but I’m married with 2 children, I’m in full time employment surely that shows someone who is responsible and doesn’t take corners @100 mph sticking it in a ditch.

I just don’t belive a word they say!
Thing is, statistically speaking (personalities aside) older geezers will mitigate as much as possible anything that goes wrong in their lives to minimise costs.
Two older people have a bump and chances are they’ll sort it out amicably, and keep to their word, if they need a courtesy car it’ll be the most basic cheap thing going, even though its not their money they won’t ■■■■ it up the wall, unless they have broken bones they don’t do claims.
Two younger people have the same bump, first thing get ClaimsRus on the phone, bloody brand new BMW 5 series credit hire car next day from the shyster true parasites, then a no win no fee ambulance chaser parasite lawyer…claim claim claim…these shysters delay repairs as long as possible to inflate all the charges.
These two examples are not aimed at anyone here, but are typical of how things are going, i suspect theres probably an average of £10,000 between the typical claims of the two groups.
I wonder, aside, if the current grabbers will still be claiming all and sundry when they’re older.

Well I’m not an Actuary, but lets have a look at a few things that they might consider, you’ve been driving 10 years and your Grandfather what about 40 years, I assume you both have pretty good accident records, but your Grandfather has been driving for 4x more years than you.
How many miles do you do compared to him? What times of day do you drive compared with him? What types of roads do you drive on compared with him.
Or more accurately what does and average married 27 do compared to and average OAP?
Remember when they gave women an extra discount just because they’re women, well in fact on average a female driver does fewer miles between a claim than a male driver, but female driver, on average again, do fewer miles per year and their claims tend to be for smaller amounts, more likely to be involved in low speed, minor collisions than men. So for an insurance company they’re a better risk as they are likely to cost them less per year. Of course insurance companies can’t (openly) discriminate against men anymore.
You’re 27 so you have about 40 years working life ahead of you, an insurance payout might have to cover many years loss of earnings. You have 2 children with hopefully many years ahead of them. But God forbid the worst happens, then any insurance payout would have to cover a lifetime of care for your children.
So its not just the risk of an accident, but how much the claim might cost the insurance company.
To give an example of insurance companies being ripped off. When I bought my car in 2010 I took out a warranty. Ten months later a front spring broke, took it to local Kwik Fit and was quoted £140 to replace it. When I took it in and told them it was a warranty job they phoned the company and the price went up to £187.
Two years later when the other spring broke I replaced it myself it cost £20 for the spring plus my time, about 2 hours.
We are simply paying the price of the rip-off merchants who aren’t always the insurance companies.

This is very true, I would only claim if it actually cost me money, I have two cars so I would never claim for a courtesy car.

It amazes me how the ‘young’ driver gets ripped off.
I live in a fairly decent area, not a lot of crime, drive a standard family car that is 12 years old (Mondeo), no convictions/endorsements, 1 none fault accident from 4 years ago, married with 2 kids and 27 years old. Last year’s cheapest price I could find was £545 with 9 years ncb.
Yet my grandfather who sometimes doesn’t know what day of the week it is, lives in inner city Nottingham, fairly high crime rate, drives a 62 plate 2lt (can’t remember what maybe a Citroën) has decent but not full ncb after a bump and he pays less than £150.
Imo old people are some of the most dangerous people on the roads.
I used to think like that, but now that I’m knocking on I can see the beauty in the system I also added Mrs ADR1 to the policy & that reduced the premium somehow??
I PUT -who work in distribution.who know.■■?warehouseman.who can check.just if somethink happened i can t claim who loose wages from job after accident

The statistics would disagree with that, and like I siad before its not just how many claims its the cost of those claims.
It’s a competitive market and if a company could grab a market by undercutting other insurers, especially a large market like married people between 25 and 40, they would. Look at Adelaide, they seen a niche in insuring advanced motorists and hgv and psv drivers.

They obviously think she’s a good influence on you.

£93 ■■ How old are you and what do you drive ■■
I was pleased when I got mine for £330
So what do you drive & how ld are you for that might also have something to do with post code
I’m 41 with 10 years no claims and drive a Focus ST, could be the postcode tho

62 and a Sierra 2.0l GT. My Mondeo 2.0 TDCi is £157. Both fully comp with protected NCD.
Change your insurers every year unless they quote the best price, there is no such thing as loyalty anymore.
I change every year, my last multicar renewal quote was over £1k, shopped around and got both insured for a little over £500
I’ve not had multicar for ten years, another rip off, had two Sierras on one policy = £420 split them up = £300.
Our multicar came in at over £600 this year, splitting the two has seen a £200 saving on that.
Probably be all change again next year, who cares, they don’t value loyalty, and finally, now they’ve take the pee enough and thicko me has seen the light, neither do i.
Dont forget we also pay for any other insurance claims ie floods ( just an example ) & any other claims that need to be delt with & there have been quite a few in recent years
That is a very forward thinking insurer and it started by giving reduced premiums to advanced drivers then soon realised that LGV and PCV drivers also drove in general to the same principals with similar driving skills
Adelaide also told me that they realised that most truck drivers’ cars spend most of the week parked in a fairly secure yard rather than being driven and that reduced the risk of a claim.
i wouldnt touch adelaide , too many clauses
and they are bloody nosey ,
they want to know where you work and your gaffas name
believe me
get a quote from adelaide
then get a quote from aviva or axa
see whos cheapest then

Nope, didn’t get asked any of those, but will be on guard for that, thanks.
Cheaper than AXA by a good margin, Norwich Union i wouldn’t touch with your barge pole, badly treated a long time ago, haven’t forgot and won’t.
