This incident occured in January and was attended to by the police, the driver obviously reported it to his office and that was that, until it was picked up by the press earlier this week, now the driver has been suspended from work and the police are investigating the incident again, all because some prat somewhere will demand action. If it had remained quiet Arclid would have done nowt but because its bringing them bad publicity they are wanting to be seen to take action.Talk to alot of there drivers and to a man they ain
t got a good word to say about them, it`s always the drivers fault, no matter what, unless you can prove youself innocent.
The woman driver has been tracked down
In a bid to release her vehicle, she said she pulled on the handbrake
yes because we all know a lil renault clio is going to stop a 44 ton artic with its amazingly high powered handbrake
and she even says she was clipped by the truck so im thinking she got hit at a slip road and she wasnt paying attention and dondering along thinking that the truck will give way and boom goes the dynamite,
A vet screamed “I’m going to die” as the car she was in was shunted sideways along the motorway by a lorry, she said.
Rona Williams’ Renault Clio became trapped under the front bumper of the tanker as she drove along the A1(M) and was pushed along at 60mph until the driver finally noticed her.
The accident was filmed by a passenger in a car travelling on the same stretch of motorway near Leeds, and released on YouTube last week.
Mrs Williams, 31, of York, emerged from the ordeal uninjured but said she was terrified the Arclid Transport HGV would ram her into the crash barrier and kill her so she tried calling for help on her mobile phone.
She told the Daily Mail: "I just screamed at the operator ‘I’‘m going to die, I’m going to die - can you do something?’
“She tried to calm me down but there wasn’t really anything she could do at the end of the phone.”
Mrs Williams had only joined the motorway 10 minutes away from her vet’s surgery in Garforth when her car was clipped by the lorry and twisted sideways, trapping it under the front bumper.
In a bid to release her vehicle. she pulled on the handbrake and flashed her hazard lights to try to catch the driver’s attention, as well as that of any other road users, but it took the lorry driver nearly a minute to notice her.
When he did he was “all over the place”, Mrs Williams said, and finally managed to bring both vehicles to a stop on the hard shoulder. The driver did not seem too worried about what had happened, Mrs Williams said, and “he even asked if I thought he needed to hang around”.
Arclid Transport said it was currently investigating the incident and West Yorkshire Police are also looking into the crash.
So will she be prosecuted for driving while using a mobile phone?
flashed her hazards to try and get the attention of the driver
If he couldnt see her car he is not going to see her hazards is he

So looks like she had her blinkers on when joining the motorway and only saw the clear lanes ahead and not the huge truck at the side of her
I still don’t understand how she got there, she says the truck “clipped her”, in order to get her in that position he would have had to have moved from lane 3 to lane 2, the opposite of a LHD swipe but he wouldn’t have been in lane 3 in the first place. If he had moved from lane 1 to lane 2 the the car would have ended up the other way around.
Another annoying thing is how she claims he wasn’t bothered, as far as he was concerned it was just a sideswipe, i bet until now he had no idea she was there the whole time, bit like when the police arrived, no-one would have believed it was as bad as the vid shows
The amount of time this is seen on web sites and even the national news has given Alton Towers the idea of adding this ride to their park … A spokesman from Alton Towers says “The ride will initially start as a category ‘A’ ride, but we will look at it again after a few weeks after the ride has been officially opened to see if it needs to be down graded.” They are advertising for suitable names to call the ride. The winning candidate gets the 1st ride free when it finally opens …
Also they say that they need LGV drivers to actually drive the 44 tonners that they will be using, but you must have at least 2 years experience and be over 25 years of age due to insurance purposes. It would also help if you have experience of this type of incident or any similar that you can prove …Examples of you on “You Tube” or any other internet sites will be an advantage.

i can see whats happened now, shes joined the motorway so hes pulled into lane 2 to let her out but shes doing the same speed or 0.000000001mph faster than the truck, so impatient she then speeds up and tries to get into lane 2 but didnt pay enough attention so got clipped and then tried to blame i on the driver of the truck.
and no she probably wont get done for using a mobile at the wheel, they will use the technicallity that she wasnt drivng at the time but getting shoved by a truck
Amazing she put the handbrake on and her hazzard lights, she even made a phone call…but she never blew the horn…

It would be a good idea to have the drivers phone number on the bumper and called him, or she could have bluetoothed him.
Excuse me my good chap would you mind lifting off the power button for a second while I rearrange my underwear

Done with a man TGA and a 13’6 twin deck on the back in Bradford to a suzuki alto but he come out from the right dont’ know how I missed him he went into the bus lane on my left then the idiot come out the bus lane scraping up the trailer side as this trailer stepped down behind like a low loader, well up the side of the uiit hit my side step that hooked his wheel arch and threw it round the front pushed it up the road, the only noise i heard was when it done the side step in and could only see it if I stood up in the seat to look out the windscreen Truck 1 car 0
Silver_Surfer:
Arclid driver will be spending some time at her Majesty’s pleasure for sure.

The woman in the car will be on gmtv in the morning, just seen the advert on tv for it, will be interesting to see what she has to say, just hope I can get digital reception on my S7000?

here it is, another dozy woman driver i think
So she admits the truck was alongside her in lane 2 and the fact the clip shows them passing a slip road and unless evidence is shown to prove otherwise it seems pretty obvious that she has gone to move out from lane 1 to let vehicles on the motorway and clipped the n/s corner of the truck. Strange how she doesn’t mention that.
If the truck had somehow moved from lane 2 to lane 1 then back to lane 2 again the car would not be stuck under the front of it
Nice to see an unbiased interview (not)
She gets 10/10 0n the posh totty scale though.
She has most likely pulled out with the wagon being in her blind spot, the driver hasnt noticed she is glued to his bumper■■? He should have noticed, could have been alot worse, but im sure she will get her monies worth from it all
