Can't Be Living The Dream?

tippermaster:
I’m fully with nathan on this.

the jobs around oxford have been awful for years. i’ve been switching around looking for something better for the last 5 years. had LOADS of different jobs and have a bit of a reputation for dropping what i’m doing at the first hint of hassle

Three TNUK members have all worked for the same operator, Tippermaster, Steve66 and myself. None of us lasted long. This might’ve been the fact that when their ancient motors broke down, the drivers got blamed and were expected to fix them in our own time. Not to mention that since then, HMRC have more than once said I’ve not paid enough tax. Could be the meal allowances we got, with no nights out etc?

By the way Nathan, have you got any decent lads at you new place ? or are they all jobswoth tossers like they seem to have been at other firms you’ve been at.Do let us know when you’ve had chance to suss them out :unamused:
Regards. John.

That wont take long, it’s only me and the boss and he’s sound as a pound.

Good. A “sound as a pound” boss is all you need really, everything else about the job should follow on in the same vein.
Glad you seem content and I look forward to all your future positive posts.
Regards. John.

I know you helped get Steve66 a job there but what’s happened to him now? Haven’t seen anything from him for a while.

Hiya every time you load a truck you’ll think of the destination!!! thats so many miles away I’d have my 45 in that
cafe i’ll be back for such and such i do another local load …if you’r giving up trucks keep away from them…
thats…IMPOSSIBLE you’r hooked. its like snorting coke you want more and more the JCB is just a fill in OR you
was never a real DRIVER in the first place…i tried it myself…when i was at the tesco shop i alway asked the
driver where he was going next. i,d be doing the trip in my head for him.Frekin trucks get out of my head.
then i buy a classic to show…more trucks.

He’s still on here time to time, works for a plant and tipper hire firm. I saw him on the road last week and we spoke on the phone.

3300 John, yes the JCB is a “fill in” we use it in the yard as a loading shovel etc. If I bring in a load of muck I’ll take any decent material out and push the muck up or load up the 8wheeler with it. The tips charge the same to tip my 6w as they do for an 8w. Four loads to the tip on the 8w (not even 5 minutes drive away) and it’s like tipping a load on the 6 for free.

Hiya …i see what your doing now. i thought you was on a muck fill all the time. if you want to pack up your better keeping away…good luck pal. se ya

Well it’ll be three weeks on Friday. I might reward myself with a shiny Argos watch on Saturday. Or maybe I’ll just do some easy overtime, taking my truck to get a leaky tipper ram sorted?
Heard some cheery news yesterday, one of my (many) ex employers has had a visit from VOSA and it sounds like a tea and biscuit moment.

No mate as I still have mates working there. Not come as a surprise though, mate rang me yesterday, wanted to know if I had a record in my diary when a lorrys’ tacho packed up (I did note it, glad I did) as they’ve said he’s “lost” a load of tachos or not used the charts properly. Ie I noticed it’d spoiled one of mine, done the manual entry and wrote a defect note etc but a couple of others didn’t bother.
He’s okay though, one of the days he “lost” tachos he was driving mine which had a digi when I was on holiday.

Overtime today in the Forest of Dean, to get the tipper ram repaired. Spent time sightseeing in the repair yard and found some nice relics to look at.

Been there one month today. :sunglasses:

We get on really well, I sort my work out, he does his. All the customers are good as gold (probably because we deal with small companies and sole traders).
I love the job because I visit different quarries and tips rather than the same places, and get to drive plant aswell. Can’t get used to NOT working through my 45s though.

Three months and counting and still loving it. :grimacing:
Looking like a new wagon coming my way this year, most likely a Daf (I asked for the 370) but he’s getting quotes for a 440 (bit OTT for our work I know). I wouldn’t mind an auto but the old git in me is harking for the 16 speed manual.
Then again, there’s an unregistered Hino for sale…

Seven months and counting
Boss went to the TT this year and left me running things, all orders done, customers happy and the firm still standing.
The handfull of notes was a great incentive.

Been in the same job 1 year on Monday, must be due a gold watch? Already been given a T reg Hilux as a company car.
