Can you guys help please

Gotta earn your stripes Jeffeddie. It’s a test of attitude as much as anything else. Makes no difference if you are loaded or skint.

Why should somebody who doesn’t need the cash so much, take preference over somebody who does?
Help the agency out at short notice and you will do yourself a favour.

Id already had the offer of 2 jobs before Id passed my class 2. Those jobs were on the back of other work I`ve done locally, and my reputation as a hard worker. I got that reputation by helping out where I could, taking the seriously crappy jobs, with the crappy hours, and the crap money, but still turning up with a smile on my face and a “can do” attitude.

Every job I have ever had, I got by walking in to the place with a smile on my face and a CV in my hand. You win some, you lose some, but if you get through the door and see someone face to face, you`ve more than doubled your chances. Find out who is based near you and go see them

No disrespect to evil but u don’t know me , first off I hav’nt even had the offer of an assessment let alone any work , and a day here and there isn’t any good to me . The two agency’s I spoke to r just full of [zb] ( promising everything and delivering nothing) maybe there not all like that but these to were and could u expand on not saying the right thing coz I don’t know what that’s suppose to mean. Your probably right in the respect that I haven’t been trying hard enough but I’m in the fortunate position that I don’t have to take any old crap

I’m not a big of agencies and companies because of there behavior toward new drivers BUT your not in fortunate position because you cant pick the days, the hours and where you want to work. Once you have the experience, you can do whatever you want. Me and you are the same, we have to earn the stripes. Any crappy old work is as good as any experience gained because this is short term for us.

Good for you fella , but it’s not for me , taking old bolloxs at my age (54) ain’t for me and I’m lucky I’ve got other options ( going back to plastering better money no bs agency’s to deal with ) and by the way I don’ t think I’m anything special but I think at my age I’ve paid plenty of dues

  • Alot of drivers saying that they can’t get work due to inexperience… Im 19 n ive not long passed my Class 1. So im probably one of the youngest in the country to have a class1. I Went to agencies with a class 2 license and no experience , said that id do all the crap jobs noone wanted (ie, 7.5t multidrop) to build a good rep, been doing that for a while and im now waiting for an assesment to do the artics! You just need to be prepared to do all the sh*te stuff to start with[emoji53] get the job done and don’ t break anything and you’ll get the work

Perhaps I’ve been lucky but as soon as I passed my class 2 in may last year, I went to my local haulier just really to enquire about jobs not thinking they would take on a newly qualified driver. Long story short, they were interested and I had a trial day with one of their drivers then started on the 1st July working for their pallet delivery operation. Now I’m in the happy position where I can work when I want to (generally 2-3 days per week) and they welcome me back with open arms. I know the systems, like my Daf 15 tonner, know the Norfolk roads and am enjoying the life. It’s not glamorous and it can be hard work doing up to 15-20 drops per day (2 runs - truck takes 10 pallets per load) but I’m my own boss out on the road and I get to see a wide variety of places & customers. My advice? Go visit the haulage firms in person, act like you have a brain and take the multi-drop stuff to get your foot in the door. BTW, I passed my class 1 last October but I’m happy with my life atm & if the work dries up at the depot, I have registered with my local agency and they keep ringing with offers of work…

I got my first interview
