The incident highlights the massive dangers migrants face as they try to get to the UK in the back of lorries.
Poor little mites, and to think them evil lorryists are just out to make money off them, makes my blood boil

Poor, poor people! How lucky we are to be European and British. We can go, live and work wherever we want in the EU. The tragic situation at the border needs to be resolved and these people helped. I can understand why the French are reluctant to spend more resources on a thankless problem. Perhaps the EU should jointly give a major investment to one of the world’s impoverished nations to erect a utopia where these people could be resettled.

I think the mods are getting above their station on this site, censoring people’s comments that they don’t like instead of only making sure the comments fall within the site rules like they’re meant to do.
sounds bad,but I don’t have any sympathy for these people,they take their chances when they jump in these wagons,and how did the explosion happen inside the trailer after they got in,sounds like they caused it in some way
Immigrant or not, it’s a stupid thing to light a fire in a space you’re locked inside. Just shows you the lengths people will go to just to come over here a few quid in benefits or to wash cars in a Tesco car park.
All the same, nasty way to go but I doubt they were still alive to feel the pain.
Thankfully the unfortunate incident happened at the port and not when it was on the boat in the middle of the channel!

The British government is where the blame should be placed. Successive governments have made it far too attractive for immigrants, to the point that they are prepared to risk their lives to get here whilst they are already in a safe country, in which case they should be staying where they are.

judging by the replies before the posts are remover,there seems to be more people in favour of the posts than otherwise. and as always the pc card gets played and the post removed as it suits the moderator to do so.
in theory a discussion forum is meant to be just that.except you remove posts at your discretion to suit yourself.theres plenty on here who would laugh out loud at similar topics,except its not pc to be honest and upfront about your views.and as usual as soon as somebody bleats about it then the easy answer is,remove the post. no doubt it would still be the same attitude if the truck had went up on the ferry with the ensuing carnage that would follow then,100 trucks burntout at the bottom of the sea,and a good few truckies ■■■■■■■ it.,.would it be poor hard done to migrants then? somehow I think not.

At Last somebody hit the nail on the head as to why many of these people are trying to get here. It’s not benefits, they’ve been duped, promised riches they can only dream of by people who will make money from them. for those people making money from this having these illegals claiming asylum and benefits is the last thing they want, it means they’re in the system, fingerprinted, on databases. They want them out of the system, then they have control of their lives.
A 16 year girl was killed after being knock down by a car in Calais, while she was trying to get on a truck. If she’d got here what do you think her future would be once she got into the hands of the traffickers?
I get as annoyed as any driver when I have to run the gauntlet of the illegals in Calais, but I can’t see how anybody can take pleasure from hearing about other people burning to death. But I’m really [zb] off with the politicians, who sit in their ivory towers, in Westminster, Paris and Brussels. Who are so out of touch they believe doing something about the problem is to fine drivers, and when asked come out with the same old ■■■■■■■■ that they’re dealing with the problem.

if they were genuine,then there would be mostly familes instead of mostly single guys and a few women,dosent matter if its a flipflop or thai prozzy,or if its a skinny from Somalia. theyre over here on the rob,to fund criminals who arranged to bring them here in the 1st place.,if you don’t pay every week,your grannys getting done back home etc… standard practice. if it wasn’t that way,then they wouldn’t be having turf wars on the last few clicks into Calais to make sure they can get certain ones into the trucks,they are not fleeing war torn countries otherwise they would be stopping in warmer climes across the first unhostile border.they are coming for nothing else than to claim benefits,and work in the black economy for the paymasters,( not forgetting on the rob as well)…fact of life… I spoke to a flipflop working here who told me that back home he was in the gutter ( literally) once he got here on the dole,he got a house,and enough dosh to feed himself,pay his gas and leccy,smoke himself to death,and get blocked once a fortnight,and to him this was definitely the land of milk and honey and even if he wasn’t working on the grip,he would never return home. by the same token,he had just done 6 months for burglary. and didn’t seem too fussed about it either…classic pic though, im thinking dambuster theme now and truckers tizer…nuff said

Jeez,I gave up euro work in 2005 partly because of the illegals,at least they only came out under cover of darkness or hid in the bushes on diesel strasse then,its a lot worse now then it was mainly “kosovans” now it seems every waif and stray from Africa wants in to the land of the golden dole ticket,nowt much changes eh
