And remember to top-off the tanks in Lux, as the price in Swiss is plenty more expensive.

Does the train need winter tyres and can the driver wear flip flops?

Surprisingly, Switzerland is on a par with France, but yes Luxembourg is cheaper.

Not sure about Liechtenstein

also instead of Bruxelles you could go via Lille and Mons, only about 5 km difference and if you are likely to hit Bruxelles at rush hour this is a better route. :bulb:

What weight limit is that?
I regularly go Luxembourg-Metz-Nancy-Epinal-Montbelliard when we go to Pont-de-Roide.
Or do you mean the N66 over Thann to Mulhouse? That’s got a weight limit for transit.

was part of that route over quite bad motorway ? as in badly surfaced or something ? i seem to remember that way as ok but a bit rougher.

And I thought that one is only enforced during the night, something like 10pm until 6am

It is very rough if you contemplate that route put plenty of glue on your dentures.

The worst bit of motorway sufrace on either of these routes used to be the motorway south out of Brussels, the ‘tramlines’ are the worst I’ve ever driven on.

Ross.

what about calais , lille onto namur down to lux that way.

That way works as well, although not on a Sunday.

Lot of drivers get caught that way on a Sunday,if you have a dodgy old road map,the border is often hard to see.
Habay is a good truck stop, excellent food, only thing is it is 4.35 minutes driving from Calais via Brusels,so have to take a 45 min before you stop there.
