Lot of drivers get caught that way on a Sunday,if you have a dodgy old road map,the border is often hard to see.

Habay is a good truck stop, excellent food,
When did it change thenā ā ?
Last time I graced it with my patronage edible food would have been a start.
As others have said, Calais - Brussels - Lux - Metz - Strasbourg - St.Louis.
You can go Lille, Mons, Namur but last time i used that route the road surface was absolutely terrible.
I personally used to use Brussels as often as poss, unless it was rush hour, as its a nicer, and easier route.
You can go over the Bonhomme/Bussang if you wish, Altho you run the risk of a 90Euro fine if you get caught in the weight limit at Bussang.
You can do it easily within 10hr drive as long as you dont encounter too many hold ups, Brussels/Strasbourg being the most notable!
As for Habay being a nice Truckstop, wellā¦
Always went Lille/ Namur way with a coach In the good? old days could regularly do Berchem to Calais in 4hrs 30

Agreed, itās been crap for pretty much as long as I can remember. Much better place a couple or three junctions before Habay.

Junction 27, Les Relais St Christoph, a much better place all together.
Only one thing wrong with it, itās closed on Sundays and bank holidays
In fact it closes about lunch time on Saturdays.
Habay is at least open for weekends and bank holidays, so there are facilities if you want them.
I think thereās now an inside smoking area. Theyāve glassed in a good third of the balconey. They are also doing some work in the shower area (not before time, at 22 st, Toby would have a problem washing his feet in those shower cubicles).
The food isnāt great, but Iāve not died from eating it, at least I donāt think I have
I have to ask for two shower cubicles, knock through the partition to make two cubicles in to one, failing that, they let me stand in the truck wash for a 5euro shower, job done.

It would be easier to just ask for shower 6 (I think it is, the one next to the lavvy)

Total thread diversion, but before Geiselwind was refurbished in the 90ās they had some double showers in the mens toilets. (Free Soap)
Habay is ok and with a fairly decent limiter you can make it in four and half hours but the showers used to be some sort of plastic tardis like cubicles!!!not good in summer tho!!not been over in a while so may have all changed.
god, id forgot about those plastic showers, what a hoot they were! one of em, i think number 4 was twice the size of the rest (about enough room to take your shirt off without hitting the walls)

Thatās why I suggested that, at 22 stone, Toby might have trouble getting his feet wet.
