If you have to weekend around Calais Dover as I will have to this weekend, where is your preferred stopping place ■■?
I’m thinking Folkestone but I don’t really like paying if I’m honest.
Eurolink ind est at sittingbourne isn’t too far from the high street. Plenty of pubs chippys and supermarkets nearby. Folkestone is only £13 per night and has a shower and plenty of entertainment. Ashford is expensive if not on account.
i would usually stay in calais. no fees. nice food, nice beer, no jobsworth tossers.
If in Calais, and not at an “official” parking area. You better take a fat wallet for the fine. AVOID!!!

there isn’t anything to enforce, it’s just tactics to make people use the truckstops, and the idiots fall for it.
Sittingbourne ind est for two days not really.
Calais too expensive (food & beer that is ). & to be Frank boring.
Still looking like Folkestone just have to stump up the £13 I spose.

They certainly enforce the roads around the new(ish) Total and Pidou, parking on those roads is now definitely not allowed. But plenty of other areas in Calais to park, not that anyone would want to.
Pretend drivers don’t know Jack. They make it up. People that have ACTUALLY been to Calais know the difference. You can take whatever advice you want.
i always find the back of the AS24 nice and quiet.

What about new MSA on M20 Folkestone - Stop24 - new extra parking by Channel Ports & Harbour Shipping - security park and cheap than other services - £5 for 24hrs! - new drivers lounge with sky tv & free wi-fi also toliet cabin on truck parking area instead walk up to service for a mile!!!
stop24.co.uk/index.php?optio … 3&Itemid=4
Ashford Truckstop - full of comrades but very safe place if you stuck and boring at weekend in Ashford Truckstop - there has big market and car boots on weekend morning at industrial park (Farm market) near McDonald & Car dealers opps to truckstop roundabout.
or other side channel - Calais
Total Station at Coquelle (car exit from eurotunnel not other side for Trucks) - clean toliets and free parking also five mins walk to Cite Europe (Giant shopping malls - resto and bars)
Total Truckstop at Marcel Doret industrial zone (former Elf garage) - new revamp place - nice clean toliet & showers also they serve pretty good espresso! not sure about parking fee? some space are free (always full up) and other reserves parking area - barriers area - charge fee for parking not sure abt price? useful place for stock up food & beers opps to Pidou also 15 mins walk to Lidl & Aldi for food shopping if your stuck at weekend.
Folkestone it is !
Thanks for replies but as I thought it’s pretty slim pickings if you don’t wanna pay.
Just as an Alternative ramsgate ain’t bad but it’s a bit out of my way. But should you find yourself down that way …

They definately enforce it I have sat in the IDS and watched them fining drivers
I would most def say Folkestone as norm get a few boys in there so not have to be billy no mates. Many a head ache caused by the local ale there. For a few quid you can use the swimming pool etc in the hotel and a great carvery there for a good price on a sunday afternoon
