Speccing a ferry to cover every eventuality is a bit like how Carryfast would spec 6x4 trucks because it snows once a year! Expensive and a bit silly.
Like at least going back to a more distance ferry route friendly trading environment I’d imagine that a shift right across Europe away from the 40t on 5 axles idea to around at least 45t on 6 might change that outlook.
On that note I think there would at least be a case for investment in one of those GNV Mediterranean route, multi deck loading, single level docking, type designs,on a re instated Dover to Zeebrugge service.
Long distance ferries are for Nancy’s! Real men drive. Besides, I and most I know would prefer to drive rather than share a cabin and get no sleep through the snoring.
Have you been in touch with P&O? I’m sure they could find space for a high calibre ferry consultant such as yourself

The point is they ain’t driving anywhere stuck in operation stack on either side of the Channel.
While an extra couple of hours spent getting to Zeebrugge instead of Calais certainly isn’t going to need the use of a cabin. But even if it did that’s what a single occupancy booking is for.

Ha, ‘single occupancy booking’! There speaks a man who’s never shipped on a freight ticket! If I payed the extra the ferry companies want for a single cabin every time I was on a ferry I’d spend half my wages on cabins. Well, when ferry companies let you, which they don’t when it’s busy. We don’t get treated like you tourists Carry old bean
