It seems that some lorries have moved in high winds, it’s also reported that no-one has been hurt in the incident.
The reports are a little confusing because some say vehicles have toppled over while other reports just say vehicles have moved.

Shortly after 07:40 a number of vehicles overturned on the P&O Ferry while sailing from Larne to Cairnryan. Emergency services attended. The ferry is now docked safely. 6 vehicles tipped over onto their side. All passengers and crew are safe and there are no injuries.10:11 AM - 18 Dec 2018
Polis say 6. Doesn’t sound half as bad as the mess Irish Ferries had on the Epsilon a couple of years ago.
Photos show trailers/vehicles sitting at a jaunty angle of 45 degrees, but not full over.
this must be my week to buy a lottery ticket.
after doing 3 months work in 1 month cowboying my way around euroland,i came home last night cabbing the crossing with a bit of bumping and banging catching the earlyier ferry thanks to 2 cards and a magnet.
all we need to do now is wait and see if any of the excuses for not being on the boat can compare to the yearly contributions for missing the herald.
there was 3 of smiths on it empty instead of full as if they were on the way home, there would have been about 9000 live chickens running about the car deck.
i wouldnt think sawyers would be concerned about theirs being wrecked as it means that for once theres someone to blame apart from the driver as they get their fair share of normal carnage.
id imagine it might not be so easy to cab it for a kip on the p&o for a wee while now till the novelty wears off.
P & O pointy shoe brigade probably ‘advising’ the Captain to sail when the adverse weather conditions told him to stay in port, and yes I know full well that the master has the overriding decision on when to sail but it don’t work like that any more in many shipping companies …
Nina may have a new client?

Think the MCA (maritime coastguard agency) might be having a few words about trailer securing provisions on there, but P&O is a large company with clout …
I saw one of the ferries that was either the Antrim Princess or it may have been the Delreada late 70s iirc, docked at Stranraer with quite a list on her, when the doors were opened it was absoloute carnage on the lower deck, can’t remember Ambulances or fire engines attending, but did get a lesson on how powerful the tugs were, when they set about pulling the artics, rigids and cars off the ship whilst they were still on their sides…
Read one story that the sea was only ‘choppy’…
I recall back in the 70s being on a crossing from Cairnryan to Larne which took 12 hours when experienced seafarers would say there was a bit of a swell.Back then the service was operated by Transport Ferry Services with black ships(Doric or Ionic?).Apparently the ship sailed up to Ailsa Craig to come about rather than risk the normal crossing.

I would think it was the Dalriada as that was a freight ship whereas the Antrim and Ailsa Princess’s were car ferries and equipped with stabilisers which the Dalriada didn’t have. I travelled on all of them in the early seventies and the Dalriada was the most unstable one. In addition the Master enjoyed a drink and insisted upon driving. This resulted in running aground at Stranraer and hitting the ramp at Larne.

Apparently a truck driver passenger said that and added: “We hit a bit of a dip half way across.”
An understatement, by the look of it.
Im guessing this would of slowed down dis embarkation somewhat.
I hope that 164 is alright.

Could the Dalriada dock on the new pier as it was back then, if not it was one of the Princess…

That was the driver, not a passenger that said that.

It docked at the same berths as the Princess’s. One other point about the Dalriada was it could only carry twelve passengers so most of it’s cargo was unaccompanied trailers. Does that ring any bells?
