Cab Fridge-Does it have to work?

I am having an issue with my company at the moment whereby they won’t repair the fridge in the cab, it has been defective for ages. There is no reason why they can’t fix it as it is a new truck and is still under warranty. Is there a law that states that the fridge must be working? or some sort of human rights violation? If there is a law covering this then I could approach them with it and it might get done. Any ideas?

I doubt it mate.

If the company take pride in their fleet and look after thier drivers then they’d have it repaired. Keeping the vehicle roadworthy is the companies only legal obligation, not keeping the driver comfortable. I was sent out for days on end in a basic lease-spec CF which had no fridge. I think there are many drivers out there who do nights out without such luxuries.

Is there a law that states that the fridge must be working? or some sort of human rights violation?
Jesus what is happening with people in this world to think like this .

Lol

You never know mate if you complain long enough you might even get your boss to come and tuck you in at nights as well :stuck_out_tongue: …human rights violation pmsl

My comments were meant to be somewhat tongue in cheek. With this firm I have to try anything to get something done, it annoys me that we are that low in regard that they won’t even fix something under warranty, the truck was delivered not working. We have so many rediculous rules and legislation in this country I will use anything I can to get somewhere.

An in warranty repair may well be free but the time spent off the road wont be.Get it done the next time the trucks’ off the road for service or inspection.

The repair is a straight replacement and is done when the vehicle is off the road at the weekend, it is done in the yard by a specialist company

My aircon needed re-gassed so mentioned to boss as the unit is covered under a R&M contract . Phoned mercades they don’t do but get a 3rd party in , was fixed in half a hour perfect in time for this warm weather.
Next week boss gets bill in aircon is NOT covered guese who’s opening there window next time lol
o well it’s nice n cold the now

Have you thought about telling your mum?

If its part of the truck should it not be reported if it isnt working, I am pretty sure many transport companies would get a fuel pump or alternator sorted pretty quickly, Oh yes… I forgot, a fridge is a item to make a drivers life a little bit more comfortable and easier to do his job eg if he is a tramper etc, of course office bods dont give a toss, and why should we as drivers get fobbed off from the office bods.

edit to add- if the kettle, air con or fridge went on the blink in the transport office, I think they would got themselves sorted pretty quickly.

my old company based in crewe  disconnect the fridges, and drop them down from 24 to 12v. but on the + side you couldnt flattern your battery as they put a leisure battery in…

Just buy a bloody cool box like the rest of us have to

I make you right for trying to get something fixed on the truck that should be working if its fitted to the truck…but the answer is still the same old NO…same as with a night heater…they will get it fixed as and when it suits them…although i believe there is an urgency about getting that fixed…

Our previous trucks were top of the range…but the replacements were not…so some of us do not have aircon…which is murder in this heat…so i just take that little bit longer…keep stopping to cool down with a nice lolly or cold drink…at least it stops me from being too overheated…and its the company who suffer the long delays for not buying decent kit in the first place, and even more so cos they were advised not to buy em in the first place. ( well actually lease.)

Does your company have fridges in the offices for milk or workers snacks etc. Keep pulling the plugs on them, that would be my course of action !
If the truck is still in warranty it is surely in their interest to have everything put right before it runs out.

Nice one 44TT.

FFS, my onboard weigher is still out of action, even though covered by warranty (via derek Jones) company still pay weighbridge receipts though when I go out heavy, and the time waiting for it to open, don’t make sense to me.

I like the idea of pulling plugs on office fridges though :grimacing: :grimacing: .

I haven’t got a nice air ride seat, can I go and replace all the office chairs with them orrible plastic school chairs■■?#

HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION■■? you’re a truck driver, you aint got no human rights.

My NEW truck has no air con or night heater - the problem being the dealership are quite willing to repair the items but want the truck in their time which is weekdays 9-5
Same thing could be applied in your case
However - we have kicked and screamed and now have a hire truck for three days while they sort out the NEW truck this is because i work out of Liverpool dock which is 260 miles away during the week
see if you TM can sort you a hire truck paid for by them
cheers
Steve

Nobody cares, dealer, leaser, body builders, the tm, other drivers, no-one! The only time they did care is when I VOR’d the truck, cos the cheap mirrors they stuck on were upside down and I had to show them all sorts of eurobollox legislation, they moved their arses then.

violation dont think so but you could try turning the fridge on, i know our daf’s have fridges that you can turn on and off if it was delivered not working it must have a switch for it somewhere.

OMFG human rights, laws, on a fridge not working in a LORRY, if you’re serious mate then I’m almost speechless :open_mouth:

I said almost  I know it can be frustrating though, the lorry came with a fridge, but it doesn’t work, it’s almost tormenting you just being there, it would annoy me too & yeah, I’d be in the office moaning about it too, but no way would I put a post on here about it & open myself up to the kind of ridicule you’re getting over this

My own contribution to the ‘Let’s take the ■■■■ out of Beaker posts’ is to advise you to go down the chemists & get some Testosterone supplements, but my favourite so far, at least, is 44 tonne ton’s, classic, PMSL
