Out traffic office have now removed the standard interior curtains of our CF’s. It seems this is a personal vendetta against one driver, who parks up during his 13 hr night-shift for a kip.
So I and everybody else have started defecting every truck, every day it has no curtains.
And I thought management where supposed to be fair, reasonable adults!!
The night driver has every right to have a sleep on his shift. If he fell asleep at the wheel and killed himself or any other road users the Traffic Commisioner will close them down.
Just because he does nights ,he will need curtains for privacy.
This is not a good way to treat drivers.
If they are planning shifts so the night man has no time to rest, that is bad planning and not safe.
Its just being petty by the management but it cant really be classed as a defect, your defect note will just be signed off as no fault found so i wouldnt waste my time time filling one in .
What pathetic, childish behaviour by the traffic office, I would take that as a very good reason to be looking out for something else, if they’re going to be like that about this situation, how low would they stoop in other circumstances

Agreed it is very childish but they seem to have a vendetta against 1 driver maybe they are trying to make him leave
ThrustMaster:
No not curtains of the frilly type!

Is he sleeping on breaks or sleeping when he should be working?
If it’s on his breaks then it’s one of their business. If it’s during time that the company is paying him to be doing something then that’s a different matter…
Very childish behavior in my opinion on the company’s behalf .If hes napping on breaks whats the issue ? if hes napping on company time expecting to be paid then they should deal with it via disciplinary or sack him

I’d like to see where that’s written LEGALLY …
so EVERY COMPANY if your right MUST supply a Vehicle with a sleeper for any Night driver …
Apart from Toby, who looks at things from a different perspective to most of us, nobody is saying that the company has to supply a sleeper, a night heater or anything else
The point is that the office have removed the curtains from the cabs just to ■■■■ the drivers off, or so it seems from the OP, that is the issue and it’s a [zb]ing disgrace if it is the only reason this has been done

Keep taking the pills fella
Nope. That’s not what he said at all. Read it again fella.
Somehow i doubt this is the real reason the curtains have been removed, not doubting the OP’s words here mind, just i can’t imagine such a reaction.
I suspect something along the lines of a report has come back of poor driving or smoking in a cab, whilst a driver played peek a boo from behind curtains obliterating half of the side windows.
The gaffer could have thought they looked a bit grubby so has took um home and got their lass to wash um ,he will be putting them back in at the weekend nice and fresh smellin
