C to C+E =......What

Ok…Sure the doom and gloom merchants on here will have a feeding frenzie…but here goes…

Been laid up for close on a year now, sick as a parrot sat at home…healthy enough to get back to work and need to ASAP…for my own sanity as much as money…

Slim pickings on cat C jobs, and I,ve not done any Cpc yet…so maby looking at C+E training (slight improvement job wise)…quick ring round seems prices a pretty much similar at around1200 quid all in…vat /Cpc etc…

Stobarts Acadamy same price with poss job at end of traning if vacancy in my area…loads at moment it seems…■■■■■■■■ or cosha…

That seems a lot of money, You’re only upgrading from a rigid to an artic. 2-3 days plus a day for the test.

What DCPC are you referring to - initial (mods 2 + 4) or periodic (35 hours)?

The practical CE training seems to be less than £1000 for most

Perhaps the newbies forum might give you more info

Check out the CE training stuff in the LGV TRAINING link below in my signature

Who have you phoned ?

Where have you tried for work have you been & visited all the company in your area where bouts in the north east are you

I went out of area for my ce training had 1.5 days then test in afternoon

… and I,ve not done any Cpc yet…

Many employers are now asking for evidence of X hours of periodic DCPC before they’ll take you on, so it’s maybe a better idea to get some DCPC under your belt first.

Getting your DCPC sorted will be far cheaper than the licence upgrade that you’re considering, once you bear in mind that you’re going to need 35hrs of periodic DCPC anyway.

:bulb: This may also be the reason that your Cat C pickings are a bit on the slim side at present.

I done c+e about 2 1/2 years ago and for mon to fri (test on Friday) it was £890 in South Wales

I need the 35hrs periodic, My thinking was if included with c+e training, long term might prove more cost effective, and better return/prospects…getting quoted £250 ish per day for c+e training with a 3 day average…plus test fee…all adds up…

Some training schools have their practical training approved for dcpc - costs a little more - but if doing 1 to 1 over a 3 or 4 x half day course then that will only count for 7 hours or 2 x 3.5 because test day does not count for dcpc

I can’t see how that’s possible. Each days training for dcpc purposes must be 7 hours, not 3.5 one day and 3.5 the next.

C to C+E = £7ph in your neck of the woods, apparently!

I did my test last year cost me £1300, that was in an Artic, 4 days training and test on the 5th day. If I’d done it in a
wagon and drag it would have been around £1100, I just felt driving an Artic was more relevant and didn’t want my first experience in one to be on an assessment drive and ■■■■ it all up.

You could check out doing your C+E in Belfast the training and test would cost about £750.00 over there.A Glasgow trainer quoted me £1050.00 for the same thing last year.Hope you find work soon, being off for more than a month is no joke.

Lass I spoke to at stobbys gave a “Yes” when I asked if price included all required Cpc training ?, Would,nt be firing my money of to anybody without double checking and something in writing…
Forgetting C+E for the mo…what’s the cheapest way to get the 35hrs needed…or is that a piece of string question ?..

Did stobbys say that was for initial or periodic dcpc ? = did you ask them?

Piece of string but if looking simply for the cheapest then find the cheapest classroom course and do it 5 times = that’s legal

Will need to check that…cheers Rog…The 5 X cheapest route makes a mockery of it all though eh…

There’s a company called easy as hgv on the net mite be handy for you to have a look at the do class 1 training and cpc aswell

If you have been off a while, don’t think you said why & I don’t need to know, can you get DCPC through the jobcentre? If you are entitled you can tell them it’s now preventing you from getting back into work & you cannot afford it due to the time you’ve had off.
