Sorry to hear you failed on such a mistake, as you say not one you’ll ever do again. Thank you lucky stars that [zb] nasty round about never came up on your test, unlike it did on mine and yes i was up on the pavement by a good foot. I’d not t even seen it till then as its not on the test root. you’d stuggle in a class 2 to get round let alone class 1. better luck next time mate
Thanks for the comments crazyhorse260. Yeah, too right I ain’t gonna make the same mistake again!! But, just you watch me go and fluff the reversing manoeuvre this time or drive right up the pavement or summat!
A
re you on about the same roundabout in Droitwich btw?
Think so, if your going through droitwich past the railway station up to the big r/b. left takes you past the school back to the A38. go right down the incline and over the little bridge and the ■■■■■■■ is right in front of you take the left turn and drive over the pavement then your next right brings you back onto Berryhill . don’t know the name of the road sorry. thing that annoyed me most on my training didn’t hit the kerb once hope your on about the same one. good luck next time

Ah yeah! You got it mate, that is indeed the one! I am hoping I don’t get that one again on Friday! Apparently, the training school have asked for it to be removed as a test route, but they refuse to do so.
And thanks berk. Not sure of the full cost yet as I haven’t received the invioce!
Yeah LJA, that is the one and its alot worse than it looks too. that central island really throws you as it comes back on itself and the entry is very tight. so where do you want to fail, clipping the island on the way in running over the pavement on the way out or making someone stop or brake by taking up all the right hand lane just to have enough room to get through the tight entry. Add to that the pressure of the test i think you’d be doing very well to get round I know these routes are quite new still, i took my class 1 in the middle of November and was told that the Bromsgrove test route was being dropped so wasn’t even shown and that was because of the other tight mini r/b at the end of the charford rd . so guess where i was taken by the examiner was just up on the curb there too. but after the test examiner said he’d have let that one go as i didn’t go on the path cos its a tight junction . did he send me through the tight ■■■■■■■ just to make sure ? anyboby else got any nasty ones to show ?

I have to agree that an experienced artic driver would find negotiating that roundabout easy because using the oncoming lane where there is the possibilty of an oncoming vehicle appearing would not unphase them but on test I think it is one which should not be used.
I had a left turn taken off the CE route at gloucester because of the situation it forced the driver to do - an instructor took an examiner to the turn and demonstrated the difficulty - STREETVIEW
With a trailer around 30 foot it meant straddling both lanes but with a 40+ foot trailer it meant being totally in lane 2
The lane 1 lights went green approx 2 mins before the lane 2 lights so an artic straddling caused big tailbacks
Being in lane 2 meant waiting for the lights to go green for lane 2 and then hoping all had cleared in lane 1
It was either doing the above or taking out the railings on the left turn

Yeah, I see what you mean on that one ROG. That one we were talking about earlier in Droitwich is easy enough to get round, but you do indeed have to take up a position on the opposite lane in order to do so without mounting any nearside pavements! I didn’t get it on my test last Thursday and I’m hoping to avoid it again on my retest this Friday.
Oh, I have had my new invioce through btw and it’s costing me another £353!! I just hope I don’t balls it up again!

Good luck with your test on friday . As its not on the test rout i think you’ll be unlucky to get sent down there and at least you’ll know whats coming when the examiner says ‘’ take the third exit left at the next r/b’’
Really? I thought it still was? The trainer I have been using took me down that road once to show me how to get round it successfully and said that they have tried to get it removed but it’s still part of the test routes from Droitwich.
Anyway, thanks for the ‘good luck’ dude, I think I’m going to need it! It’s just typical isn’t it? I got my retest tomorrow morning and apparently we are in for a pretty rough morning of bad weather (just my luck!) The forcast is for heavy snow/rain and strong winds for the midlands!
Sorry I couldn’t post anything on Friday as I am currently without the internet at home. It wouldn’t have been a positive post anyway because I done it again didn’t I?
Yes, I failed my 2nd C+E through a very stupid ‘snap decision’ despite getting all the reversing, coupling/uncoupling spot on.
Basically, everything was going great 40 mins in to the drive when I was asked to follow signs back to Droitwich. I was doing this, and was so relaxed thinking that in less than 10 mins I will be holding my pass certificate when I approached this large roundabout (on the A38 and the Worcester side of Droitwich), indicated left to back to the Droitwich test centre when my brain suddenly shouted at me, “Hang on…the examiner meant Droitwich town centre, don’t go on A38 or you will fail for going wrong way!!!” So, I quickly cancelled the indicator, then put the offside indicator on and proceeded to go over the island and took the 3rd exit for Droitwich town centre. He marked that as a serious and so I failed. He said everything else was fine, and if I had taken my original (wrong) turn, I would have still passed!!
I don’t know what to do now, as I have run out of funds!! Over £1400 down the drain?
Oh, and by the way crazyhorse260, that roundabout we were talking about IS still on the test route because I was taken down there on mine! (I got round it without any probs though! )
Yes I remember it being said about the independent drive section that so long as you safely go the wrong way you will not be marked down for it.
Shame you made such a bad judgement call. I know it’s hard when funds are tight but I would suggest that,if you can, beg steal or borrow to get retest booked ASAP as you are so close.
Yeah, I must say though…you would think that the examiner must point out that if during the independant driving you know you chose the incorrect road, you should be able to tell him as soon as you have realised you have taken (or are about to take) the wrong road and you will then know you will only get a minor mark down for it. If I had been told this, I wouldn’t have had my sudden panic attack and changed direction, and but for that, as the examiner told me, I would have passed!

Your INSTRUCTOR should have done that prior to the test !!
Sorry to hear you failed mate, you will get it and you know what you did wrong, other than that seems everything was perfect, next one you’ll nail it. Did your instructor not tell you about that on the independent drive section?
Anyway goodluck and hope you pass on next attempt which im pretty sure you will have no problem with.

Did not your trainer tell you if you leave wrong exit it’s not fail mate.if you do it correctly and safely and examiner tell you this is wrong exit and you just say ah sorry! Its not even minor but I failed same reason too and then my trainer told me this.
Next time if you thing your in wrong lane or going to wrong exit but doing it correctly just carry on dont try to change your lane or exit.Hopefully next time mate,I know how bad feeling is this every test is big stress and nearly £300 again makes even more stress. And one more tip never think what mistake you did at last test couse you will never do same mistake again dont waste your energy just think you will do it concentrate moment never look time how many minute left …
