With a second bite at the cherry, after a disastrous first attempt, i passed today in an artic,
with Tockwith Training near York.
I had wanted to pass before my 50th birthday, but it wasnt to be, but managed it before im 51.
Any of you older lads and lasses who are thinking you are too old…you,re not, get among it !!!
Thanks everyone for your kind words, hopefully land myself an easier job than i have at the moment (Class 2 foodservice) sick of dragging pallets up pavements and over gravel to woefully underequipped, ungrateful “customers”. But it was a start, and for that im grateful…sort of !
Androo… just do it, i fannyed about for years wondering if i could, then a change of circumstances at work, sort of made me do it, best tips i can give you, be committed to your training, and get the best you can afford, its a one off cost and you dont get owt for nowt these days.

Well done mate,
I have just turned 42 and decided for a change in my career. I am getting trained at Tockwith Training as well
I will go for the theory test asap, and I am quite excited to go back on the 18 tonnes after the driving assessment: I really love driving and I have enjoyed my 45 minutes journey around Tockwith, Rufforth, Acomb
Was your C+E training on an automatic gear as well? I like it, but have concerns if a future employer have a fleet of old trucks… not scared, but I would like to get trained on a manual gear.
A 2001 DAF CF manual artic mate. One of the synchro’s had a horrible crunch on one of the gears lol. The thing had a million k’s on it but it drove ok. I figured that if I could pass a test in that, then everything else would be gravy.
