C+E Done. The Nightmare is Over

OMG. What have I started?

I have to admit when i learned C+E requirements i was surprised.

Let me explain.

In my country of origin (Lithuania) In 97 it was B and C in one go. 18 years as minimum. C+E 3 years later after C. No matter the age.

You have to undergo 3 month of theory class. 2 times a week. For no more than 3h, evening.

It use to be all road rules, first aid to truck, eg tyre change, how gear box/engine works. how to repair air system, and any other first aid you can provide to a lorry on the road.

U had to log 20 driving hours as minimum to qualify for a test. And all this was for C. C+E all again but more and with artic.

Once you C+E you was proud of your achievements. And you was ready for a big road to Europe.

That was the dream of a boy who was a grease monkey back in a garage.
I got my B and C when i was 18 and carry on working in a garage and envy every time our trucks got back from europe.

i remember i use to take truck for a spin with no trailer as a test drive and use to run it flat down the road for few miles to get that feel of freedom.
But that was not to be due to some serious changes in Real world.

I am surprised how easy C+E is in this country. The standards are about 3 to 10 compare to ones in lets say poland and lithuania.

Those guys take long time get to C+E and it is a profession maybe disregarded in UK but highly respected in the east.

As for me. I know the basics of Driving, the rest will come with experience.
Say what you like but u can’t learn drive C+E in 20h. U learn it in few years.

You never stop learning!

U will see. They get u ready.

I’m thinking about packing mine in to be honest with everyone, obviously not made for this trucking life, failed 3 times now.

I failed my C three times Rich. And then passed. And then passed class 1 on my first go,and now have a perm full time job driving a brand new 44 tonner with a decent wage.

It can be done folks. Don’t give into pussyism.
