Ye that sounds about right m8, I would think 14t + 10 for trailer going by the wheel size.

I’m sure for c+e it needs to be 20t minimum for a drawbar and at least 14m from bumper to bumper

It’s an auto and it’s not a 7.5 ton. Slightly bigger

They have a manual artic but only want to teach c+e in this wag drag combo for some reason

Wag and drag is easyer to pass. They keep better pass rate this way. Extra hours on artic have big discounts after pass and no test. To me it is a win win situation.

When i booked my test i had a choise but they recomend easyer road.

Cheers for the info gentlemen. Hope Dan doesn’t think I am being a hater lol.

Just seems a hell of a difference to me going from that combo to a big old bendy, but to be fair to Dan,he recognises this and is taking extra tuition.

I am learning in an auto artic but also taking some lessons in a manual so I have all the relevant skills.
personally I wouldn’t learn in a wag and drag as I want to know and practice all the aspects of driving an artic like coupling up etc

congratulations buddy, very well done, passed my C+E last week, still on cloud 9, enjoy the skiing

Well done passed my c+e 2 weeks ago and it is great driving a big artic legally

Congrats on the pass :grimacing:

Why didn’t you just train and take your test in a Artic… I mean wagon and drag might seem the easiest option, but in the long run your spending more money having to have additional training…

Have to say after passing my c+e in a wag and drag i really wish i would have taken my lessons in arctic as once out there on the road it feels like learning all over again but no one beside me advising me,still un decided as to whether to pay a fee for a refresher type of course where they teach u in a Arctic, congrats in your pass m8

Nice one mate, well done!

OP. Well done on the pass.

Those questioning the weight, a DVLA vehicle enquiry shows the “Revenue Weight” of the wagon as 14000 kg

14tonner

Can’t believe it’s only a 150.

My 12 tonner was a 220 and I used to whinge my breasts off that it was underpowered

How the hell does that little puddle jumper qualify as an artic?

No disrespect to the people that pass in one, but that doesn’t feel like an artic, it doesn’t react like an artic and the license it entitles you to allows you to drive… an artic :unamused:

IMO it’s a really good plan to have a little bit of time with a trainer in an artic to be best prepared for assessments for jobs.

The discussion as to whether folks should train w+d or artic rumbles along forever. We continue to offer the choice.

Pete

When I decided on my c+e I did artic.
I googled c+e training. Picked best looking website.

Called them. They offered me an 16h training + test for 1100.
Ok lets go for it. Signed up. Payed.

Then I got my starting date. Address and phone nr to call.
ok. I arrived 6:00 in a yard meet my instructor. We had a coffee and a chat.
He asked how much driving experience I have.
I said non since 1997. O boy.

Then I was informed we only have 8h training and test.
Well lets get cracking. Reverse was easy.
Driving wasn’t bad either. 12 year old daf manual box
wasn’t bad.
Second day. Big crash on m25. Lorry driver died.
m25 closed. My training area gridlocked with traffic.
Third day test. 17 minors. Bollloxxx.

Then I decided lets get this c+e with the right school.
Done more googling this time decided take an assessment drive to see what lorry I will drive etc.

I was advised w+d auto is easiest option.
I calculated the expenses and it was no brainer.

If I had money artic every day. But I didn’t.

In london fail test = 4 weeks wait + about 300/400£

I’m sure the responsible trainers here will agree with me, but that is complete and utter ■■■■■■■■.

Training isn’t about getting a licence as cheap as possible, it’s about teaching someone to drive competently enough that they can pass a test and be able to actually drive the vehicle that they have a licence to drive once they pass the test.

All this running around in puddle jumper drawbar outfits is ridiculous.

I used to be slightly bemused by some of the questions I read on the UK forum, simple things like coupling etc, but now I know why.

I feel sorry for you newbies that are being rushed through the test as cheap as possible, it’s a joke, except it ain’t funny.

Artic is way forward.

Wag and drag simply won’t prepare you to drive an artic.
