“I’m not getting into an extended na, na, na over this, especially with Slartibartfast .”

No, I don’t mean you. Go to the “Foden Two Stroke Development” thread’s 1st post which I rewrote after it got derailed by the usual suspect to read:

"I Removed the original theme because, what a surprise, Carryfast has jumped in with his usual attempts, 20 of them so far on this one thread, to bludgeon every one else into conceding that he is the font of all knowledge about life, the universe, and everything.

Well Slartibartfast we know that you are an acknowledged planet designer, and that your favourite domicile is doing slightly better now following your unexpected modification to reverse its direction of rotation, but its orbit is now taking it away from the earth, on a trajectory which will not see it return for the next five millenia.

So forgive us if we just say bye bye and wrap up warm."

I agree partly that standards here have plummeted. Oh you mean in schooools…
Yep, there too.
No really, it isn’t brain surgery to see how reduced discipline has led to worsening behaviour which then leads to worsening educational outcomes because everyone is fighting instead of learning.
Crikey, we had plenty of action behind the bike sheds between 3.55PM and 4.10PM we was settling all the beefs that cropped up during the day, then between 4.11PM and the gates been locked, it would be boy on girl action

But during the day, we sat and learned. We had no choice, headmasters still had the option to cane us, and expulsion really did mean expulsion, not exclusion for a week. Most of the worst classroom violence those days was the efffing teachers throwing tantrums. I had the pleasure of meeting one of those teachers around 10 years later, he’d finally been sacked and at 60 something years old was working as an E.T labourer on a site I visited. utter t.w.a.t.

But hang on ole Rob, wishy washy left at fault again for it all?

Um I don’t think so entirely.
Thatcher and the vegetables 1979 - 1997 = 18
Cameron and cretins 2010 - 2024 = 14
Vs
Blair witch project 1997 - 2010 = 14
Starmeeee and Fluffy Snuff current = < 1

Without getting out a calculator, (when I did my school maths exam we weren’t allowed calculators) I think it’s clear that the blue tories (not the covert red tories) have been in control of stuff like education, crime, immigration, transport, environment, health, pensions etc etc etc, for more than twice as long as labour has in the last 45 years.

And seriously, if a party in continuous power for a massive 18 years, can’t sort out the problems, then clearly they are as welcome as a ■■■■ in a chocolate eclair factory.

As for the clearly now dysfunctional dementia patient in the Kennedy dynasty talking nonsense about the 1918 flu pandemic, that topic has been done to death by medical historians. Millions died because health care in those days didn’t know their ares from their elbow still. People wore a mask for weeks then got infection from breathing in through a thoroughly disgustingly dirty rag. Young people died because their bodies over reacted with the so called cytokine storm. Older people died in large numbers because they were still physically and mentally exhausted from a terrible bloody war. And they were all crowded into airless wards together. Dear young RFK junior is losing his marbles.

But to drift back to the programme. We are all been played, yeah, all of us.
What the true fight is, and always has been, is the working class Vs the ruling class. Always has been since kings ruled absolute. Every time we manage to wring concessions from the rulers, they then set about trying to restore their idea of natural order.

And the easiest way for a numerically and physically inferior enemy to beat the majority remains the classic divide and conquer. We fight each other, we waste our energy and time, and health. The rich retain their power.

All the b******s about race, religion, footy team or bitter Vs lager, it’s nonsense. We all bleed the same when we’re cutting each other up. But the rich will continue to use our lack of education and familiarity and common sense, to blind us to our common points with the neighbour while making a big deal out of pointless differences. Except, how many families do you know where all the kids clearly look like siblings? Heck, mostly we don’t, especially Prince Harry  bless him.

But take him as an example. “oh he’s married a ######” “what colour will his children be” and all that racist efffffing twaddle. Divide and conquer, using a sidelined royal as cannon fodder because he dared to step out of line. If he’d kept in line, by not even dating Megan, he’d still be feted as one of our darling Princes (down with the monarchy BTW) But he bravely put his head above the parapet and gotten it blown off.
Trump (ha ha he gets his mention at last) might be inviting his country to decide to deport him right now, make an example of him, and further divide the US.

Fun fact. Before 1967, Harry couldn’t have married Megan anyway (even if they were old enough) in several US states because it was still against state law. Clearly despite his choice of deputy cr@p raker in Vance who has a none white wife, Trump wants the races in the US to fight each other. Trump actually is acting clever, he hides his racism behind a carefully selected minority of minorities in his team. Then supporters can jump up and shout
“But Donald isn’t racist - look he has X,Y,Z in his team and they’re not white”
Bet you a thousand pesos, that the vast majority of other minorities are silently saying behind their backs

Cheers anyhoo.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I was about to say …'Come on lads, we’ve all had a drink '..but I haven’t I’ve been working.:scream:
Just parked up, can of Smiths in the fridge, so I may join ‘hostilities’ later…or maybe not.:joy:

As for Scotland…didnt even know they played tonight…(the MAIN game is tomorrow. :joy: )
You see we are a bit different to you lads,.if Scotland are in a tournament, or Wales or NI most of us want them to do well…even though you hate us with a vengeance.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Wrong! Again: read the ■■■■■■■ post! Where did either CAV or I declare those descriptions (or descriptors if you insist on using vaccuous Yankee jargon) invalid? We didn’t. I simply saw them as redundant in the in the useable English language. Once again, for the millionth time: READ THE ■■■■■■■ POST!

You do realise that will only encourage him

We don’t hate you, that’s such a pejorative term. We just hate 1966 getting rammed down our throat every time England take the field. You have 10 times the population of Scotland so we can’t be expected to compete with you. We might have the occasional triumph but on the whole we will lose a lot more than you do but we don’t need a load of sanctimonius crap thrown at us all the time. From the tv presenters and media in general I mean, not from you. You probably don’t notice it but it verges on gaslighting. Our only avenue at exacting revenge is to hope that you get beat and for us to revel in it for a couple of days. After that we can be friends again.

Bugger, I thought that I had managed to put our esteemed, all knowing friend into a state of torpor that would allow us all to contribute in a sensible fashion. If you’ve roused him from this state I’ll have you to blame for not getting any sleep tonight :grinning: :grinning:

To add Argentina placed its order for the Super Etandards in July 1979 around similar time that it entered service with French forces.
Two months after Thatcher’s election to office.
It’s obvious that Argentina was planning the Falklands war well before Maggie was even in power.
Obviously based on the weakness of our Fleet Air Arm after Wilson’s and Heath’s defence budget cuts.
She only then saw political capital to be made, by gambling our cut price Navy, on a cut price election propaganda stunt, after the fact of the resulting invasion.

Ironically taking a Harrier to a Phantom v Etandard fight is exactly what stupid Thatcher did.
The Phantoms in question having been removed from the navy’s arsenal long before she got into power.
The Argies can be forgiven for thinking that France wouldn’t renage on a weapons supply contract.
Private thoughts which might have been said who knows who cares. No decent military strategist would have chosen to go into such a fight without adequate air cover.
It was plainly the scrapping of Eagle and Ark Royal’s capabilities which gave the Argies the incentive for what was obviously then a long term plan to take the Falklands.
Thatcher then just ran with it as an afterthought.
We agree it was a politically driven stunt either way, just not the way you described it.

You do realise that you are confirming everything I said in my original post? Thank you for seeing the light.

How does that tie in with the 1977 incident? Ark Royal was still very much in service then as she wasn’t decommissioned until 1979.
