Size isn’t always the determining factor in making a statement. It only takes one little mosquito to give you malaria.
I don’t know mate…seriously.
I would really like to think so, but I aint sure.
Ask some of the ex Forces lads who have been on excercise with these guys, they will know a lot more than me…you are asking the wrong man.
Maybe it’s a misguided negative instinct on my part who knows, …the cluster ■■■■ that is the EU is maybe clouding my judgement.
The Status Quo of the US being basically at the helm of NATO has managed to keep at bay WW3 since 1945…that steers my judgement.
When you get clowns like Starmer gobbing off and making rash out of character moves, who knows wtf could and maybe will happen.
America had the means to produce things but, by and large, it was “foreigners” who designed them. Starting with Von Braun.
Maybe not, but it goes a long way in having a succesful Air Force in time of war.
Yeah I have one of his shavers, great piece of kit especially on the head.
(Sorry mate. I’ve reverted to ‘Childish and flippant Rob’ mode, maybe it’s time I hit that bunk. )
America was happy to be “at the helm” as long as the Europeans sourced their military materiel from them. Even the lauded “Marshall Plan” was designed in part to keep US factories in operation. “Sure, we’ll give you $300 million as long as you spend it on our goods”, not here’s $300 million for you to build factories to produce your own vehicles.
Yep and like I say the system, or at least the effects of that system worked since 1945.
We only paid off the old Lend lease thing rrelatively recently afaik.
Its like the US baling out Zelensky,.and people getting all hot and bothered because Trump wants repaid.
My old Granda always used to say to me…
‘‘You dont get owt for nowt in this world Rob lad’’
You just need to look at his personal social media platform and judge him from what you see
I believed in the, if you’re going say something then not only say it but act on it
And do it, and he did
90% of what he has said he was going to do and tried to do has failed big time, that’s why you see him referring to past mistakes by previous presidents, you got to blame someone on your own failure so why not your peers
He’s a dictator and he’s lucky in life that he doesn’t realise he’s a madman loseing his mind
He’s also a simpleton in his way of thinking and would remind you of previous so called famous people who couldn’t wipe their own arse without help
He’s an expert on extorting money from people and banks and never paying it back and the people being self employed and small business
In truth how this man is still walking around in a living condition is mind blowing, nothing to do with now but what he did to people before
It’s only been a few weeks of blowing smoke with the easy touches, let’s see how he handles the big boys
lol lol lol. I don’t think that a new European defence force would be capable of deciding what gender it was or what colour rainbow camouflage jackets would be most becoming. Are you actually serious? Anything designed by a committee of self serving largely unelectable cretins wouldn’t be capable of putting
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common back in their box.
And there we have it.
A man speaking from experience who knows, cos he’s done it…
As opposed to a self appointed 'expert on all things, or so he thinks, who in reality knows at best …as much as the rest of us,.and at worst …the far end of f.all.
Last time I speak up for you Maoster btw…so dont let it gan to your heed.
And yet we have a bigger population than America so logic tells us we should be as good
But But logic isn’t in Europe’s first agenda it’s live and let live because we let someone else worry about us
Big mistake
If you are referring to our armed forces in comparison to the US… I would go as far as to say ours was better,.any US serviceman would not agree but from what I have seen and heard they have a hell of a lot of respect for our armed forces.
It’s the comparison of shear size, not to mention more than adequate investment that is the difference.
Same situation in WW2…make no mistake,.we should all be grateful to the US, otherwise we would all be walking around (maybe still today) shouting 'Sieg Heil to each other.
Refute that one with any credibility if you will.
So at what point do we stand up to Putin. What is our line in the sand?
Out of curiosity are you ex forces?
Mate you know what?
I seriously do not know.
Call that a cop out if you like, but it’s better than coming on here pretending I am some sort of military strategist, politician, or peacekeeping consultant, or a brave assed reckless war monger.
From what I am told this thing between Russia and Ukraine goes way beyond the start of this war, and beyond the Soviet Union era…
It is deep seated, a miniature and less prominent Middle East scenario if you will, where there will NEVER be a mutually satisfactory ending, the Russian invasion was the latest aspect,.apoarentlly there has always been an underlying mutual hate between the two.
I keep referring to the cards on the table, not just because Trump used that analogy, I have always thought this way, ’ You can ONLY play with the hand you are dealt’’ …
It is a good metaphor for all aspects of life, politics, health,.and general personal circumstance, (another idea I have my old Granda and life coach to thank for it has helped me reason out many things in personal life.)
So as I said…you can only play the game with the hand you are dealt, sure there are much better cards left on the table, but they are not in play, so make the best of the hand you are hollding, ignore them, and do your best with what you have to ein or at least make the game work.
You need to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run, you never count out yer m…sorry I’ve gone back to childish Rob quoting a bit of Kenny Rogers…just joking )
The hand being held now is…
There looks like there COULD be peace, not ideal peace in circumstsnce…but nevertheless peace.
The US want no more part of war…for whatever reason, honourable or otherwise,
The only one gobbing off is amusinglly and ironically Keir Starmer , with no real substance to back up his pseudo bravado in real terms…(hmm nah, move on Rob
)
Zelensky has realised he has been beaten, but not admitted it…he would have been beaten in first 2 weeks of war if not for the US and their aid.
Putin renains unpredictable.
The threat of WW3 is hanging around all this like a bad smell.
The card of the US taking a hard line with Russia backed up by NATO is on the bottom of the pack never to be played.
So my honest answer to your question is ‘I do not know’ basically.
Beest leave it to those who profess to know better (and I don.t mean Franglais ) and hope Trump actually has a ‘Trump’ (card) seeing as he is not entitely straight as we have established, it may be a dodgy Ace card hidden up his sleeve.
So I have gone round in a 'kin big circle and saying…
‘JUST WAIT AND SEE’ nothing else we can do, as all we do is drive trucks.
Historic differences should play no part in modern life.
Most of us have gotten over Bob Jenkins losing his ear, and no longer hold a grudge against the Romans for their invasion.
If anything the Ukrainians have cause to resent the recent USSR actions than any other way around.
Starmer? Speaking in support of a country invaded by an unprovoked larger foe? Yes.
Plus, (in no special order) France, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Italy,Spain, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Denmark etc etc, and in the UK Badenoch, Davey, Swinney all seem to be on the same page.
So, No, not the only one.
In the first two weeks the Ukrainians fought the Russians to a standstill, against all the odds, and against all of those who thought it would be a walkover.
Until that happened they had little no support from outside.
It wasn’t until it was clear they were doing well that the outside world started ging them aid. In the first days and weeks the Ukrainians were using stocks not imported material.
Until they stopped Russia, they seemed a lost cause and no one “wanted to upset the Russian bear”.
Get on Google or whatever, go to tools, and look at reports from 3 years ago.
Yes it is.
And even if Trump waves a bit of paper declaring “peace in our time” it will not be going away.
We need to re-arm ourselves. Make alliances with reliable partners.
And help those whoa already fighting those who are, or who will become our future enemies.
There are no good options.
Sitting around doing nothing is pretty much the worst option.
And there it is folks a rousing speech from the man himself.
Not so much Comical ALI this time. more Muhammed ALI.
Perhaps you’d like to explain that to the very real and growing movement who are seeking reparations for slavery! There are some scarily huge amounts of money being bandied around, and knowing our current government they’d be more than willing to bankrupt Britain as they hurriedly took the knee in order to appear inclusive despite the fact that it was largely The Royal Navy who brought about the end of the slave trade.
Perhaps it should also be explained to the Irish too. Although at the moment both sides of that particular political divide have found a common enemy in their hatred of illegal immigrants!
Dennisjavelin, yes I am ex forces mate.
