Since when did USA make champagne? He is so thick

This will be great for the Wine and Champagne businesses in the U.S.

Just how well do you know this Government?

Starmer has already said no to slavery reparations.

Well Duh!

Well enough thank you. I won’t hold my breath.

Edit to add; starmer ruled out lots of things and then reneged. He has previous. If he told me it was hot and sunny outside I’d take an umbrella and my big coat.

not that thick im guessing as he can do his own research before mouthing off

Beat me to it.
So maybe not so thick after all.

Despite Franglais and his…

‘‘Historic differences should play no part in modern life’’ soliloquy
(delivered in his usual over confident and condescending style )
With reference to my point of this Russia’/Ukraine feud being deep seated…
I done a bit of research of their WW2 relationship which may at least explain Russia’s initial and specific accusation of Ukraine being 'Nazis at the start of this present war…which I found puzzling at the time.

(Btw before anybody jumps,.I am NOT agreeing with this accusation,.and I am fully aware ALL occupied European countries had their collaborators…I am merely explaining part of my previous point).

I was aware of Einzatsgruppen involvement by Ukranians… ’ mopping up (murdering) innocent civilians, and/or Jews, but it sems it went much further than that.

Thanks for that, I have also taken your previous advice to ‘Check my history books’ as you can see, so please continue to carry on ‘‘keeping me right’’.:joy:

Yeah just caught his soeech on news…sorry but I find it harder to take anything he says serious anymore due to past experiences,… even more than I do with you in fact :joy:

Yep Franglais coming across all Mr Toughguy side by side with Starmer.
I rest my case on my previous statement. :joy:

The Ukrainians were - hardly surprisingly - anti Russia after the Holodomor between 1932 and 1933. They sided with the Germans as a means to an end. Something that we did with Stalin strangely enough but nobody classifies us as pro-Russian for this.

War makes strange bedfellows for lots of different reasons. After the American hostages in Iran were released guess who armed the nasty Iranians during their war with Iraq. If you didn’t know, it was the US using Israel as the conduit. Again, if you aren’t familiar with it, you should look up “October Surprise 1980” as an example of how dirty politics and politicians can be.

I think you have picked me up wrong mate…I did say I do not necessarily agree with any accusations towards or from either side.
Neither was I trying to justify any, just pointing out a pov and a reason.

As you say…'hardly surprisingly anti Russian, I do get that.
As for siding with Stalin,…yeah.so did Hitler initially,.well via Von Ribbentrop anyway.

That whole period of history is widely convoluted…I get it, I’ve studied it all widely at school (over 10 years ago  :joy:)

Patton wanted to take on the Russians and recruit what was left of the Waffen SS to help him…only Eisenhower rejected it as he saw him as a maverick and loose cannon.
But later history tells us it may not have been a bad idea after all…soon after Patton was killed in a road accident, draw any conclusions you choose.

As for ‘dirty politicians’ dishonest ones,.and those who tell lies..(ie all of em,) you are preaching to the choir, I have said this for years, and especially on here to some suffering from naivity and delusion.

I also studied it at school - 57 years ago , when it was still fresh in peoples minds. The period between the two wars has always been of particular interest to me.

Yeah more the actual wars with me…and I’m a bit younger than you.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Spent a lot of time visiting sites of both wars.

I worked for a firm based in Belgium so being weekended was good fun, war sites through the day Belgian bars at night.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I also went on a couple of those Leger bus tours with my Dad, including Holland and Germany etc Arnhem, Normandy and Battle of the Bulge sites,
We also followed Peiper’s route by car, and the site of the Malmedy massacre.
At the same time I was reading 'Band of Brothers, so we took in a lot of those sites in also including the 101st Airborne Museum at Bastogne…

I could bore you all day with this stuff mate.:joy:

Thats one of my plans when I retire…aint told the wife that yet though.don’t think she’d be too keen unless it included dept stores and hair, nail and spar days…ex model, high maintenance .…(nah not really.:joy:)

Interesting read

You’re dead right mate…‘‘oh dear never mind’’…who actually cares?

Anyway I thought you were a 'champion of these electric car abortions?..or are you actually gloating because it is Trumps crazy sidekick who is in charge of all this crap.

Fact is not just Tesla but leccy cars in general, they are a very poor alternative to the real thing…
Not many people have been conned into buying them, as they would like,.and many who have wish they had not.

My lad works at a Ford dealership on the maintenace service side, he says the salesmen are finding it hard to sell them as opposed to 'proper cars despite what we are being attempted to be brainwashed into believing.

So I aint sure where you are coming from on this tbh.
?

But hey! … I suppose I’ll never know seeing as you apoarentlly ‘‘dont read my drivel’’ :joy: ..or words to that effect,.so no chance of you reading this latest instalment of drivel either then :joy:

Well if you want a good WW2 story here’s one for starters. My Dad was captured by the Americans at Anzio - the problem was that he was in the British army. He was part of a secret reconnaissance unit that had been operating in the area for a few months previously (the unit was just designated “Special Engineering Unit” to mask what they did"). Him and another member of the unit were having a picnic with a couple of local girls at a spot overlooking Anzio beachhead. They watched the Yanks land and when they were approached by a party of US soldiers they decided to have some fun with them. My Dad had previously served in the LRDG and, having spent so much time in North Africa, he was quite tanned (to say the least). He was also fluent in Italian and Arabic so they pretended to be Italians just out for the day. After a few hours questioning they got bored and told the Americans that they were actually British special forces. They also told them that there were no Germans within about 20 miles of Anzio but it seems that this information never made its way through to the command. You’ll know what happened at Anzio so I won’t bore you with the details thereafter. He and his unit stayed in Italy until the end of the war but details of their missions are still (after 80 years) subject to the official secrets act. I’ve been to Kew to see what I could find out but very little is available. Probably be released after I shuffle off my mortal coil.

I see only one thing wrong with my fully quoted paragraph, and that is my opinion subject to open debate about Stalin and how as dictator he wanted to bury the working class into the ground, and how that does or doesn’t compare to trump et al.

Perhaps for the benefit of clarity Rob, maybe explain clearer the who, what, how of your paragraph. Cos it doesn’t actually make much sense as a riposte to my paragraph.

As a prime example of what I am talking about, we have yet another yank in the news recently and drawing near universal worldwide ire.

the beginning.

This entitled brat is also now pathetically attempting to deny the facts and replace them with a totally bogus fiction. It is plain to see how much she is lying, but in true trumpian style, she none the less blithely claims that despite being filmed by her companions

picking up a baby wombat from the just on the roadside, runs a fair distance with the poor animal, and says to camera “I caught a baby wombat”

After holding the poor critter for some time (bear in mind her video was edited) she then plonks the baby back onto THE ROAD even further away from the side.
She is now claiming that “she was trying to get the animals safely off the road” despite
the evidence to the contrary.

puts the baby down no where near the bush

Just like trump and his supporters, repeating ad nauseam blatant lies in the hope that repeated often enough lie becomes truth.

I’d hope that you, like me, if we saw an animal on the roadside, we’d stop without fuss, shoo, carry or cajole the animal to safety, then carry on our way. We wouldn’t make an international film about it.
